My First Paso Road Trip - PICS

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Reggie, Jun 7, 2004.

  1. I was fortunate enough to make it to Paso this year with my Kontinental bretheren. Fortunate in that my 8 month old patina'd hot rod made it there an back. It's a Hemi-Powered model A, 5speed OD with a fresh traditional chassis. After breaking down in the first 10 minutes of the drive (bad generator), the car did the 3600 mile round trip flawlessly.....and many of those miles were well over 100mph screwing around with Mercury Charlies fast ass Tall T coupe and Jim Jards bad ass 409 powered '32 5-window. Intense Excitement!!!! Anyhow, here are a few pics of the trip.

The first photo is of Mike Youngs incredible '60 caddy mild custom. For those of you that did my shop crawl, this is the car the Gary Howard (TexasTramp) of Gary Howard's custom was trying to get ready for the LoneStar Round Up. You will never see a straighter black car in your life. This car is incredible...Mike was gracious enough to let me drive it. Now I want a Gary Howard car!!!!! The man is THE MAN.

  3. First Stop: Balmoreah (sp?), Tx. A beautiful place on I-10 that has a lake that is 30-40 feet deep and you can clearly see the bottom. Parked in front of the lodging.

  4. El Jefe cruizin his '57 caddy across New Mexico.

  5. Lurch cruizin with Chuck in Chuck's '68 caddy ragtop.

  6. Will Muntz's bad ass '54 F100

  7. Jim Jard in his 409 little deuce coupe and my Model A kind of separated from the group a bit. We needed to let the 409 and the Chrysler Hemi open up a little bit. That damn dual quad deuce would flat out fly....but I must say, that Hemi made the challenge a good one.

  8. Gassin up near LA.

  9. Man, Calif has some expensive gas. We paid nearly $3/gal at one point. This is a little better.

  10. A closer look at the prices...it was $1.80/gal in Austin.

  12. I got a lot of "you drove THAT thing from Texas!"

  13. Me Cruizin up the 101 (Pacific coast highway) just north of Santa Barbara. That's the Pacific ocean in the background. What a beautiful drive!

  14. Made it to the show.

  18. Trailer Blow-out...after Chuck developed a vibration in his drivetrain. Too much weight for the tires. A second tire blew about 100 miles out of Austin.

WOW !, you guys picked a hell of a place to get off the freeway and gas up. I work about 1/2 a mile from that gas station, that was Alameda st. and the 5 fry. its kinda a rough part of L.A. called Lincoln Hieghts .
alot of street gangs around there.
that gas station gets robbed about 6 times a year.
glad you made it out O.K.
