I'm impressed you can weld with those bulky gloves on.

I really need to get a small pair that fit my hands better. I always just use whoevers are around. I think it's time for my own helment too. I can see a trip to Harbour Freight in my future. [IMG]

Got it from my favorite boys down south and I've been wearing it proudly ever since. I can already tell it's going to be one of my favorites for the upcoming t-shirt wearing season. [IMG]

  2. Great job, Denise.

I use 100% cotton, brown Jersey gloves... for everything. The polyester ones ****.
Leather is just too hard to work in. You'll get a burn, or two, through the Jersey gloves, but they say it'll put hair on your knees.

I am expecting my welding to be critiqued by Sean AKA: BFTWCS.

Looks fine to me, and I don't see any distortion. On something like that, controlling the heat is much more important than laying down a pretty Bead.

The last apprentice I trained warped the hell out of every piece of sheetmetal he touched because he was too worried about what the Bead looked like. It took a while to get it through his thick head that since he was grinding the bead off anyway, it didn't make any damned difference what it looked like.

The difference between being a Fabricator, or just being a Welder, is the end product. With sheetmetal, ability to Fit the parts well before Welding, along with the Finish work after Welding, is often more important than the welding itself.

I use TIG Gloves for everything except Stick welding. They are usually made of Kidskin and fit well enough that you can pick up a piece of filler rod off a table with them. They are thin though, so you can't pick up anything Hot... [IMG]
