I'm a highschool student looking for a first car to Restore & drive and well... my Porsche 924 was being a pain in the**** to get running since the fuel tank is all gummed up and you have to drop the transmission to remove it .... Stupid germans... so Ive diverted my attention to a 1950 Studebaker Champion that was sitting in the orchard with another one. So I drug it out with the bobcat and its now sitting in front of the garage. The rear drums are sticking and the little bolts that are supposed to help release them are rusted to the point of not being able to fit the wrench on to turn them... I'm gonna have to get out the BFH. http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii39/newgoalie27/1950 Studebaker champion/L1120856.jpg http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii39/newgoalie27/1950 Studebaker champion/L1120855.jpg http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii39/newgoalie27/1950 Studebaker champion/L1120854.jpg http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii39/newgoalie27/1950 Studebaker champion/L1120854.jpg http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii39/newgoalie27/1950 Studebaker champion/L1120852.jpg http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii39/newgoalie27/1950 Studebaker champion/L1120850.jpg
Ib believe that you will need a hub puller like the one shown here to pull the hub and drum off the rear. https://www.studebakerparts.com/studebakerparts/store/s/html/pages/wheelpuller.html The job entails removing the nut on the axle and then using the puller to remove the hub and drum and normally they don't come off easy. <input id="gwProxy" type="hidden"><!--Session data--><input onclick="jsCall();" id="jsProxy" type="hidden">
FYI,everything you need to post the actual pictures is included in your photobucket account. Just look for the links that start with
There is a very good Studebaker club on the 'net. You might want to look them up, join the forums and get to know people in your area. I bet if you were to go here: http://forum.studebakerdriversclub.com/ and post some pictures and an introduction - you would get a ton of info. Good luck! My son's project has a way to go, but we'll get it done when he's home on summer breaks.
YES, A THOUSAND TIMES YES! Somewhere in R&C and on the HAMB is the recent pic of a similar Stude made into a fenderless "coupe". I'm thinking they said it was made from a 4 door. Black with that beautiful "bullet" nose. Have you seen this pic? That might be the best idea yet!
See watching all those Red Green Shows you learned about righty = tighty and lefty = loosey, but not all the time.....Now hurry up and lets get this tank on the road so I can get back to my "Glass Elevator" project....... you still have a ways to go! fender skirts don't need to be made from the same material as the upholstery is unless you really wanna....... tt
You took it out of the field too soon, it wasn't ripe yet. When they're ready to pick, they are pink with purple and baby blue graphics. Just kidding, the 80's and 90's played those bullet nose studes out but Ive wanted to build one as a sled for a long time. Good luck with your new project and have fun!
