I had My first real Hot Rod experience at the Stray Kat 500



One of my highlights at the SK500; When Dustin took me for a ride. Dustin (HvyChvy) has
been working hard on his Sedan trying to make it more road worthy friendly. He has done a great job with the build. It was one of the Koolest Hot Rods last weekend. I’ve ridding in a lot of Hot Rods before but not one as wild as his. After lunch at Travis’s (twotallokie)
place I wanted to sit in Dustin’s Hot Rod to checkout the improvements. He came over to
check out what I had to say and he asked if I wanted a ride. Without thinking I said sure.
I don’t know what happen, maybe it was because I was wore out and tired. I was excited about the opportunity to ride in the beast. But before we started, I got this sick feeling.
You know when you are standing in the line to ride a roller coaster……You know that
prayer “Oh my God what have I done!” So I just take a breath and act kool and went for
it. I’m sitting back and Dustin starts it up. WHHHHHHHAAAAAAAA!!! Rump de rump de
rump!! Man does that sound kool and gas fumes and puff a smoke feels the cab. As soon as we backed out and he threw it too the floor, hearing the RPMs, feeling the speed and
smelling the fumes ah-man I was in love. Sitting back looking through a 6 inch windshield
and around the carbs was just as awesome. I’ve always thought they were kool but until
you sit behind the wheel you are missing out of a lot of kool vibes. He took me just around town and I had to catchmyself and act like an adult, not like a little kid and saying “Again! Again!” I want to go again!!!

I’ve been a kustom guy for a long time but I’m thinking now this kat may need a hot rod
project to go with the Merc.

I already have a '26 Cowl …….hhhuummmmmm… all I need is.......one of these days

They always say, you’ll never forget your first one….. Thanks Dustin for the kool ride!

Hey Mick,Glad you enjoyed it,and I just want to thank you for bringing such a KILLER show to our little town.Every year,I'm countin down till the next,and every year it just gets better.When we gonna start on your HOTROD?I'm ready when you are.

I'm too much of a Kustom guy to be a********* Hot Rodder. BUt I'm goona try. I'm
working on the pics of Meredith's Hot Rod, hopefully by tomorrow I'll do a post with
her new ride. Great job on the "T" !

Thanks,that would be kool ! As normal we sure had a great time. Tell ya what, i'll just give you the roadster for the weekend of Starliner and you'll be hooked!

 

That would not hook me, it would lock me up. Driving such a legendary Hot Rod would
make it hard to follow up with whatever I could throw together..... Thanks for the offer..
