do you remember yours? the first time you drove over 100mph? i was about 14, in what was suposed to be my fist car, got in some trouble and dad took it away, stripped it for his hotrod project, a 76 firebird formula. it wasnt an original car, just one built out of about 9 others of the same breed, i thot it was the balls tho. ill never forget that spring day, the highway by the farm was dry but the gravel roads were still a litle wet, just enuf to get a car dirty. we left the farm, me behind the wheel, my dad ridin shot gun, a big thing for a 14 year old in itself! we headed a half mile and turned south off the highway onto the gravel road, went a mile then hung a right, drove 2 miles then another right, another mile and one more right led us back to the highway, then it happened. as i turned onto the pavement my dad said "get her sraight" so i did then he said "punch it!" as any eager lil gear head would have done i didnt hesitate, to the floor with the pedal! that cammed up 400 pontiac groned as the nose of the old 'bird lifted and stayed upaward for what seemed like a lifetime, but lived within 10 seconds! the nose setled back down and the car setled into that now farmiliar high speed flote, that only an old car seems to have, at about 85mph! i kept on it, whight knukled and whided eyed till i saw the speedo touch the 120 mark. i was stiff as a board, happy yet affraid. at that point my dad looked at me and said "ok, you better ease out of it" without hesitation i did, then began to breathe again! i eased on the brakes and idled back into the farm yard. we put the car away and that was that. to this day my dad says he has never seen me look so afraid and happy at the same time. so now, no mater how fast i go, no mater what i drive, that old pontiac motor, now in my dads 46 chevy, still scares the **** outa me, but in a good way! thanks dad. even if i didnt get 'my' car i still got that experiance. thanks. anyone else remember?
I went over 100 the first night I had my license at 16yrs old in my '85 Chevy SWB Pickup. Later that night, I ran from the cops and had to hide the truck in the garage after a friend in a 5.0 Capri were spotted drag racing in the high school parking lot. He was behind me and I ran, he got popped. The cop was spotlighting me, but I was gone.
16 years old. In a 66 mustang with a 289, my gf yelling at me to slow down. We were on the US 60. Yea, I remember.
age 16. 1967 Mustang Fastback. Hit 100 mph going into third. Wound the speedo past 140 and back up to 30. Tunnel vision did occur.
76 280 z. I was 17 It registered 160 and I wanted to see if it could do it. I got up to around 140 and it go light in the front. I slowed down and changed my pants. I was never really into high speed runs. It feels like 55 to me. I love drag racing The rush is much more intense. Now on a bike its different. I love riding fast. A dude on an old kz 1000 buzzed me. I ran him down on my chopper. I dont have a speedo but whaen we go to an intersection I asked the guy how fast we were going, he said he was doing125 when I p***ed him. Then we let em rip off the line . He got out about a bike length but couldnt pull away. I love drag racing!
First time was 1971 in a Holden GTS 327 Monaro, that was no big deal for that car. Mate had a Honda N600 ( 600cc shopping car ) that got up to 100mph as well but that was going down a really long hill These days 100mph ( 160 KPH ) on the open road is to easy and expensive.
Gramps had a 1984 15th Anniversary Trans Am - he taught me to drive a manual in it. That T/A was the baddest thing ever back then - almost got busted when Gramps told me to "open her up and see how brave you are" on Route 29, heck I didnt even have my learners permit yet.- she just wanted to go go go
I remember my first time. She was wearing. She kinda had a big ****. We took it slow at first. I rubbed my hands all over her body. I was 17 then. Oh forget it. It was a mercury capri bubble window in the rear. Looks like a mustang. It was hard to do a 100.
I was 16 in 1974, in the family '75 turd brown, 318 Duster. Just wanted to see if it would do it. did it on a two lane road, not wearing seat belt-never did back then. We're all lucky to be alive.
