The stock dist. MUST be run of the correct port on the correct carb to have ANY chance of working correctly. This mean using a 94 carb as the 97s do not have the correct vacuum porting. I ran 3 -2s with all 3 working back in the 60s with a stock dist no problem, but was using 94 carbs. As stated the Loadamatic dist can not work with manifold vacuum .

  2. now, i know this is gunna bring up some debate possibly, but i put the stock carby and intake back on and it seemed to fix it, i think its a fuel issue, something wrong with one of the 97's myself or a vaccuum leak fromthe fenton manifold somewere, runs super nice with the 94 back on, i pulled out doin 85 miles an hour onto the freeway with no bonnet and she wnted to keep goin, wouldnt do that before.......

Well, I bet those plugs are clean now!
Were the 97s new or rebuilt? How good are the bodies?
I had temperamental 97's that ran fine for 2-3 weeks daily driving and then decided to give me trouble non stop. The bodies were not the best, even with new kits through them, they would not behave.
    Good luck

You can't run 97's on an 8ba without addressing the vacuum to the distributor.

I ran a single 97 on my 8ba and had to switch to a chevy style distributor from gmcbubba.. He is on here.

Whether or not the vacuum is your entire problem you would be light years ahead to switch it out..

  6. yeah now i have a great undertandong of the vacuum to the dizzy issue which im surprised no one told me about when i was doin this the first time, it runs great now alot less pull and doesnt sound as good but feels like its very reliable to drive now, also the carbs are old ones that i cleaned, polished painted bases and fully rebuilt with new kits and new jets, it is like one of them has gone dicky so i think ill sort out a dizzy and play with the carbs again, thanks fellas
