I ordered it as soon as the 68s were released, my memory isn't great anymore but I'm sure it had a Z28 badge on the rear.
Should have only had 302 badges on the front fenders and nothing on the back except for the gas cap. I believe if memory serves me in March of 68 they got Z28 badges on the front fenders and grill
March-May was the transition for all mid year updates, depended on which plant the car was being built and how much inventory they had of said part before making the switch. I think the 302 vs Z/28 badge is like a 2ish week difference between Van Nuys and Norwood. Yeah early 68 Z/28s just had 302 badges on the front fenders. Non RS cars would have a standard painted gas cap, then a RS cap if the car was a Z/28 RS. Then late 68's had the Z/28 badges in place of the 302, no badge in the grille until 1969. Only other big thing different on the exterior of a Z/28 regardless of early/late build is 15" Rally wheels. All other non Z cars got 14"
I'll see your green and raise you an orange. rotisserie "restored", a lot of suspension upgrades and the 396 got warmed up a bit. A few later I would remove the M-22 for a Tremec 5 gear.
Paid $1300 for the SS L78 and $3500 for the Z .... I can't come close to affording a true 69 SS or Z28 now
Red with white stripes,,,,,,a really sharp car,,,,,,that dude would run too ! Had the Pro-Tecto Plate with it also ! Tommy
Bought the 72 monte for 2500 in 84 sold it 8 years later for 6k and the guy I sold it to got head on with drunk driver .they said the long hood saved him. It was loaded to.willow was the color greenish beige.sold the Camaro to buy Kermit my cab over '49 chevy
For the Z28 crowd...my high school buddy's 1968 Z28 with real-deal magnesium Halibrand Sprint wheels, hand polished, in 1968. We used to street race together. A pic of my '40 Chevy and the rear-end of his car, plus a side view of his Z28. He beat the **** out of the car and sold it, found it again and bought it back 30yrs. ago, doing a full 100pt restoration on it. Not too bad for a high school drop out, haha.
It was a "Bathurst Homologation Special" with factory headers, hot cam, triple webers, LSD , dual plate clutch, close ratio transmission, even those ROH alloy wheels were standard Top speed was 140 mph That car is very valuable now [AUD $250k] It was just a cheap old racer back when I was young, stupid, and bulletproof. Maybe not so stupid , I sold it to help buy my first house at 22yo [mortgage free] Back to Camaro's This was my first Camaro. [just a doggy ol' RS]
