Most everyone calls me Dave. My mom called me David up to the day she passed. Unless I was in trouble, even in my 60s. Then it was my full name, including my middle name.

Except for the people at the bars when I was younger and frequented such places. Then like said above, I can’t repeat them here.

During my OH-13 & Huey crew chief tour of duty with the 1 st Air Cav in Vietnam I was called "Blade" & "End Cap" for a time having shot the end cap off one of the blades manning my canopy mounted M-60...the moniker never stuck as personal transferred home.

I was called Mean Gene for many years, that name fit me well when I was a young man, I had an attitude. I am a lot more mellow these days. Some times Mean Gene isn't far below the surface, he can come out if I feel things are not right.

My 1st job was at a gas station. One of the mechanics always said "Hi Gene." to me every day, then one day (about a week in) he decided then instead of calling me "hygiene", around the shop, I should be called "Clean Gene." That name stuck for the 7 years I worked there.
I haven't heard those nick names for probably close to 20 years, I forgot about them. I suspect I'll hear both of them a lot more again now...

Most people just call me Rock.

Very funny! Love it. My wife dealt antiques. At one event, another dealer's girlfriend was out of sorts with him. She prepared his guest greeting label and pinned it on his shirt. He went around glad handing everyone with a label that read "Hi, my name is ASSHOLE." He never got over it and subsequently found a new girlfriend.

I have a friend who calls me "Yoda" because he thinks that I know everything; I don't really, but I let him believe that I do. As Gene Wilder's character said in "Blazing Saddles", "Jim...but people call me Jim".
