Got it sitting on all fours now. I'm still wondering about the spring. It's a model A main leaf with a homemade reverse eye, with two leaves taken out of the pack. But it looks more like a 34' spring now?

I haven't checked the thread since you first bought the car.
Sorry, to hear Herman passed away but I am glad you got to talk with him and find out some history etc for the old car instead of buying it from his widow who probably knows very little about it (other than he has had it a long time).
It's a great car and I think in the long run the flathead is a big plus. I thought the banger was cool because it is what Herman ran but since it locked up it was the perfect time to change it (just like ol' Herman would have probably done if the banger locked up on him back in the day).
Nice work with the refurbish, I am glad you aren't painting the body and frame.
    Enjoy it.

It's been a little while since I've updated this. I've gotten a decent amount done, still have a lot to do. It's sitting on all fours with the body on now. Then I have to pull it all back apart and finish up the chassis.

I got the grille shell mocked on a 32' radiator. It should sit a little lower with the 28' radiator. I almost have the floor finished.

The old guy looks like he could have been a real hellraiser back when, I hope you pulled all of the stories out of him. I love talking to the old timers. Stories about cars without complicated electronics, swapping parts from one car to another to make them run and wild rides out in the country. You can't get that kind of entertainment from TV.

back before the flathead Ford became king the vast majority of these old cars were hoped up bangers. Think about building something along those lines as the hemi in a highboy has been done to death all ready but here is a chance to keep an original , really original and have a blast with it as well.

but its yours and that's just my 2 cents worth...great find no mateer what you do with it
