Found the old throttle linkage from the flathead I got last year. Has a similar “bullet” nose connector but is seized of course. Just a hole in the other end of the rod for the cable, so will mimic the same somehow.

Work continues on the pre-oiler tank. Fabbing up the brkt for the remote filter hsg. Was able to salvage it from the other failed project thingy. Also picked up a ten-speed? bike my neighbour threw out the other day. Who knows what I could use. Was wondering if I could mod the pedals for pedals on the speedster. lol!

Brkt tacked into position. Will need to add some feet/extensions so the elbow and 1/4” copper line coming out of the bottom of the tank will clear.

Got a new battery the other day. Same as the oil one. Was CAN$170! I think I pair around $100 for the other one. Sales guy said it just arrived the day before and blamed the tariffs. Got the scavenged fuel bowl spacer installed.

Will get back working on the exh later today.

Decided instead to work on modding up something to adapt from the bullet connector to the wire on the throttle cable. Took me way longer than I care to admit, and not as nice as I would have liked it to be, but should serve the purpose for now. Made from what i believe is the innards of a residential bayonet connector and some random brass thumbscrew, and a 10-32 brass screw and nuts.

Turned out to be a 16 hr day. One of the straps (front) for the fuel tank broke (due to rust) on my Tundra. Didn’t know until someone on the hwy yelled at me. Pulled off next exit and stopped at a carpool lot. Front of tank was only 4” off of the ground! Luckily nothing fuel related was broken. Drove into the small town, a few kms away. Of course everything was closed due to Easter. Luckily, I had a whack of tools with me for the job I was going on in the first place. Cut up an extension cord, and was able to tie it up. Got back on the hwy, and only 3 kms away was one of those large gas/restaurant places. The gas station had some cheap ratchet straps. Installed one of those. That and the ext cord kept it in place the rest of the journey there and back. Had new straps for months after the local garage mentioned the one was pretty bad, but never got around to installing them. Guess what I’ll be doing now?
Also, ran out of time harvesting the body parts from the donor vehicle. Seller was super nice, and even cut out one of the rockers for me with his plasma. Says he’ll cut out the rest of the stuff and ship it to me. IMG_6841.jpeg

Been tied up with a series of issues popping up with my DDs’. Spring is also finally here which means a ton of yard work to get done, but will get working back on the exh today. Broke down a couple weeks back and got new batteries for my OT project so at least it’s now running, and I can use the garage to weld/grind/paint again.
Been pondering the pre-oiler dilemma, and probably won’t use the hand pump style sprayer. Not comfortable with it being able to push oil all throughout the system. So, will re-examine the pressure tank style one in more detail.

Sad to report, but haven’t had a chance to work on the speedster. Had a minor health issue that took me out for 3 weeks, then had super hot/humid weather for the last month. Sold two of my cars, and bought a new car. Still got to unload the Tundra. Then a couple weeks ago, one of dogs passed away suddenly. Still have a ton of work to do on the house/yard. Hoping I can spend 4-6 hrs a week on it going forward.
