Incredible story. Sorry for your family's loss of home and personal effects but glad everyone survived. That is a true time capsule and I am glad you are preserving it. Enjoy and keep us updated on it.

What a rare chunk of history! So awesome that it has stayed in the family. Looks like it incorporates the old reversed column shifter trick, or is it just missing its shifter presently? Looking forward to following your progress!

My friend went thru the Marshall fire as well and lost everything including his 34 Ford pickup. The worst thing is that his son,s ashes were in the house and they are gone too. Anyway I’m glad you have kept the roadster in the family and your Dad will get to drive it again. Your grandfather would be happy.

Outstanding car a perfect time capsule of the traditional 40s and 50s dry lakes style HOT ROD.
By the way the tach drive is awesome.

It’s a complete time capsule! That tach drive off the generator is nuts!
In spite of the calamities, you guys managed to mine this little jewel.
    Keep us updated, please.

We're hoping to have it ready for the Black Canyon car show next spring. You'll have to come check it out.

That's really hard to hear. I'm sure there were more than a few classics that were lost. Our neighbor up the street had a Shogun.

I follow along with the Iron Trap Garage DeLoreon roadster rebirth with great interest, unfortunate it lacked appropriate storage unlike your example, but none the less great to see a pair of time honored true hot rods with attached history in capable hands.

What a fantastic car, I note details that others seam to overlook, like the rolled bead over the steering box on the hood. Never saw a locking hood on a Hot Rod before. Welcome to the HAMB! Bob

This is just cooler than words could describe! I agree keeping it "as is" as much as possible.

Not sure how you go from a Grandfather that loves old hotrods, to a Dad that loves Datsuns, but life is full of strange stories...lol

Nice car, however I'm confused. From the interior photo, I don't see any kind of shifter. What does it have for a transmission?

Would those be keyed cylinder hood locks that index the vertical tabs on the rails ?

That car's the real deal!!! I would be hard pressed to touch one more bolt than I needed to to put it back on the road. What a gem!

Left handed column shift so you could cruise with your arm around the Lady.
    Classic so many details.

This is about the coolest survivor roadster I have ever seen! Even cooler that it has been in the family all these years.
