Alf, kudos, the car will be awesome. Seems to me you've got the right mindset and some talent to boot.

Keep up the good work, keep us posted.

No dude, you just need to open yours.

Hot rodding means different things to different people. Would I build a hot rod with a Toyota or Nissan engine?? Well it wouldn't be my choice, because I'd want to run a hemi, a caddy, a nailhead, or a rocket. However, if I were broke and a Japanese engine & tranny was there, available, and cheap I might go in that direction.

Shit, if we go and invade Iran next, and gas goes past 5 bucks a gallon, I'd slam a big japanese 1100cc inline 4 motorcycle engine & tranny into a mini-car like a fiat 600 in a hearbeat. You adapt or you perish.

I just hate to see a young guy like this get a bunch of negative feedback on his first build. A lot of older guys around here can't figure out why so many of the young guys choose Hondas over model A's and don't repect hot rodding history, while they simultaneously bash them and talk shit about them. Duh. I wonder why?
