my hotrod got loaded up and taken away!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by **DONOTDELETE**, Feb 17, 2004.

  1. An American living in New Zealand is the new owner of this car. He bugged me for it just about every day. Funny, took four years to build and 15 minutes to load up.

Is it normal to cry? The truck driver told me there was no shame in it.

  9. guys I'm not trying to be funny. I didnt go to work today. I felt sick. My dad died when I was building that thing.

I have a kid on the way and want to start a new project so.... fuck man, I am a mess right now. A total mess. My wife proved to me how much she loves me for years. I have only proven it to her once.

That's tough man...like losing a family member...at least you know that if he bugged you that much about it, he's pretty fanatical about it, so it'll be well cared for....

A lot of people thought I was crazy to sell my tub, but hell, it was just a cut down Model A sedan on aftermarket '32 rails. But THAT, you let that go?!? You've got bigger kahoonas than me. Cry, cry like a little girl. [IMG]

Damn that was a keeper. But your family does come first. It's tough sometimes being into these old cars because it's usually our hobby that get's sacrified, not your wifes.....like say scrapbooking or something.

Oh well, let it go, just another love TKO! We feel for ya man!!!!!!!!!!!!! [IMG]

I know exactly how you feel! i sold my real steel 32 highboy 2 dr about 4 months ago, coolest car I ever put together, It's even going to be featured in R&C in another month or two, but I had bills piling up, and 2 other projects that needed attention. I too felt sick for over a week, tears crept out when the new owner drove off. But a big burdon was lifted as well, bill paid off and I'm well under way of having my next project on the road. Here is a pic of my sorrow!

  14. Oh do I know how you feel. I had a nailhead powered roadster I built out of a bunch of parts nobody wanted at the time. The car drove bad, was rusted, Brakes had a mind of there own.
So I decided to sell it about 5 or 6 years ago. IT sold right away and I told the new owner I would deliver it.
Well things were going ok until I left the guys house without my Roadster and a empty trailer. I drove home with a lump in my throat, and couldn't even speak without chokeing up for the rest of the day.

These cars become part of lives when we build them from nothing. It's like creating life in a warped sort of way.

The new project and the security of the cash will help and you will get over it. SO don't feel alone in your sorrow pal I bet you,me and pleanty of other grown men have shed a tear over a hotrod [IMG]

Makes me think of when I'll have to sell my ride. But, my kids gotta learn about hot rods some how, and 2 seats just ain't enough.

Hang in there and good luck on the next project(s)!

I can relate...I hadda sell my 51 vicky when we made a boo-boo on our tax withholding one year. That didn't hurt too bad but when we bought our new house, I sold my 56 Poncho to pay closing costs. I was so bummed I kicked the brick decorative wall next to the gararge as the car was rumbling down the street. That's what brought tears..right.

I'd be sorry to see that go as well !

But if you can build that, you can build something cool to replace it.

And on a positive note - at least some of us Kiwi hambers will be able to check it out now.

    wonder why?

I sold it to buy a house and work on a "blue chip" hot rod. There are good things in the future but pain in my present.

  26. You must have made some good money off of it to be buying a house in S.B...anyway sorry to hear about it..it sucks when you have to give up something you put so much work into.

The only solution is a new project--but I suspect you already know that...

Yeah some things just can't be sold, my coupe is one of them, we have been to hell and back and all points in between. It is more than a hot rod it is one of my best friends. Don't want to know what life would be with out it.
Yes and my coupe has seen me cry!

  29. I would cry too, that is one of the coolest rods I have seen, I really like the color combo you have on it, gives me some real insperation. Don't worry its going to be going to a good home
