Hands are starting to get better to where I can mess with stuff... got a question for the "T" wizards... if you move the spring mount forward like the car in the pic, would you just split the bone??? and would you have to make the cross steer longer??? what else might I be missing???

I like how they heated the rear spring...

also, the front spring is still on top of the axel...right???

    no reindeer games for me....lol

anyway... started cleaning, probley 50 yrs of baked on grease,.. when I do this I usually roll out old carpet or area rugs from yard sales.. it keeps the mess to a minim, then it don't get tracked into the house and all the grease sucks into the rug.... I then spray everything with pro easyoff... takes the grease, and all the layers of paint off , with the rug down you can then paint with out ruining your concrete

    IMG_3080[8923].jpg IMG_3081[8924].jpg

this was just one spray with easy off... usually takes a couple times and then the spot touch up i used to sand blast years ago.... horrible mess in the yard and a pissed off wife

Well, At a freak'n loss again,.... the reason.... I anit got a clue what the fuc I;m do'n.. when i bought this car had BIG plans to have a parade T for our house at kanab utah... when I bought it, was told it was a 1926 model T... not having a clue, and after posting pics here, some one related to Johnny Cash must have owned it and did the build.. because members here, the ones that really know this stuff have school'd me on what I got... pretty cool that they can look at a pic and tell you what you got, what year it is, and what years it fits...kinda the Google of T & A parts.. any many thanks to those that take the time to help

So the story goes like this... got this "THING" home ... what ever the pile of parts is called, fits in no specific era or title.... the wood was total rotted...I knew it needed help, but I was a carpenter for 50 years and built custom homes..... so how tough could it be???? so I took all the wood off...

    IMG_2076[8650].jpg

so with the wood off...... it took the wind right out of my sail... now what!!!!!!!!!!!!!@#$#@$$$$

Had to have some surgery's, so it just sat.... then the brain storm... Fuc it.... I'll just buy another one....
classic case of , as my Dad would say "more dollars than sense"... I find another 26 and buy it...

    IMG_2207[8711].jpg

so I figure, having one just like it, I could copy it to put the first one back together.. and have the newest one for the 4th of july parade in Kanab....

  8. You are getting a True Initiation into the Old Car World. First off, if it's For Sale and you don't know exactly what you're looking at and ask what it is you're going to get lied to. He has your $$$ and you got smoked. Old Cars are a constant Mix-n-Match use what you have on hand to keep them moving. There are NO rules as to how far astray you can go. Often times a seller doesn't really know what he has. You have to decide what works for you. If you like what you see and it makes you happy, that's about as good as it gets. If you want something that is100% correct go buy a vehicle that's been restored by the Book, then do your own homework to make sure it is in fact correct. Problem is, that's not a Hot Rod by the H.A.M.B book. You gotta just decide what works for you and not get past the point of no return.

so when I get the newest one home,,, Wife says " does it run?" I say, yeah , if you know how to start it!
"Can drive around???" yeah, if you know how to drive it... " can we go for a ride" ahhhhh.... ok

it was all I could do to back it out the back yard.... they say that if you have never drove a model T, find a big open field to practice in till you feel comfortable to drive close to anything.... the three pedal deal w/ tractor throttle, and the E brake shifter takes some getting used to, it's no wonder the 1927 chevy put the end to model T's....

anyway...the newest T became "YARD ART" in kanab... no way I could afford the insurance to drive a Model T in a parade... kinda like giving a pistol to a 5 year old and telling him to go play...

we drove it around a little bit, we pull over, wife says damn, this thig is scary.... wanna drive? LOL she says, no, I wanna get out and walk home..

so time goes, surgery healing, keep looking at the pile of money sitting in the yard... keep thinking, just build a box back on it and call it done... then I come across a nice model tall TT cab... drive cross country to go get it... IMG_2303[8706].jpg IMG_2801[8825].jpg

so now..... full wind in my sail again...gonna build a tall TT pick up.... but the wind goes away quick.. too tall, tooo wide ,... and not something I really want,.. so lost steam..ended up sell'n the doors, as my new plan was to use the cowl and windshield part, and make it back to a hack depot...

I had a long list of people that wanted the cab, but, ill advised, I wanted the cowl, so sold the doors..

now I have put the cowl on and hate it.... so down the road goes the cowl..... I think????

You seem to be motivated and determined to find something which 'clicks' for you, so sometimes you have to try multiple things which ultimately don't work to find a combination which does. Keep at it, you'll have that eureka moment soon enough. :)

  28. Long time back; guy down the block maintained a T touring parade car for a local clown club. I was over one day and noticed it had an B engine & trans in it and looking closer saw it had juice brakes. Mentioned I thought it was a stocker; he said used to be; but the club ran out of old timers that could drive a T and he said new guys were impossible to teach, so he changed the car to suit the available clowns.

  29. And I think you must be a Clown to want to drive a stock Model T.
