Projects MY ILL ADVISED "T' PROJECT

I didn't have a welder, so my sons says, just go buy one from harbor freight, they're on sale for 400 buck and work on 120 volt... and they work good... so off to harbor freight.. I think they work pretty good....
and you can use them 120/240

thanks, I'm at the cross roads again with the roadster...would like to have a turtle deck rear... but the ones I find are the narrow 23 T bucket.... might have to build some thing..I still have the bed but that would make 3 RPU, if I put the bed on I'd have to take like 16'' out of it to fit to the end of the subframe.... got any ideas???

 

as you can see, the stock beds are way too long...

One of these could be made out of a later model (40's) spare bonnet or fenders for the compound curves, & call it an Aussie turtle deck, would be easier to make than a genuine styled one .... Surely someone has one kicking about...

 

you gotta get that slope right or it don't look right.. I started down low, it was too low.. then the marker got crooked and it was too high...

 

Well, new day, got a lot done yesterday,... but some how I need to be done.... been looking in vegas for some one that works on T's and A's.... but no luck.. seems when I was in the hot rod business, there were guys everywhere working out of their garage,.. now I can't find one.. pretty much gonna say this hobby is pretty much dead....yeah, there's a few youngster out there, but most are over 70, and really are done working on old cars... I have 20 cars... and just pulling them out and driving them around to keep them in shape is a full time job.. keeping air in the tires, batterys charged, brakes pumped, coolent cycled,... my idea was to get the major body work done on these two "T's.... then be able to take one at a time and make drivers out of them..But... I feel me being at the end of my wrenching years..the end of the road right around the corner..

so today I decided .... I'm cutting the stock bed up, putting it on and being done... I've searched every where for a 27 turtle deck, and un less I'm willing to but another project to rob the turtle... no luck...

of coarse there's no deck lid, and you have to clean out the garage to get the piece you need....oh well..

 

Got to e some rodders in south california can hook u up with turtle deck, sad to cut up bed when u want t deck

got up early and cut it up... probley 30 for sale on the west coast...

too nice a car to mess with

so I bought the truck to get the bucket...







there were probley 20 bolts finger tight holding it together to make it look like a truck...maybe just me but that bed hanging way out the back just looks wrong,.. and the frame quits at the center of the rear wheels

 

so here she is... I shortened the bed 17'' probley should have just went 15'' , but didn't wanna do it twice...I like... leave a comment below...

Stock bed was too long at the rear half IMHO. Looks better now.

I bob'd a couple "GREEN" mud fenders....

 

well,... I ruined another model T.. did the one hour mother nature patina in a can...yep... paint is ruined and will never shine again... I'm asking permission to show how bad the paint looks... if it's ok I'll post up some pics.. also got the roof on the hack today....

got no idea, the front is a 34 and the trans is a 50's ford 3 speed.. poor ol car looks a hundred yrs old...
