Being new to the board, I wanted to into myself to get started on the right foot. I'm Bill from Naperville, Illinois. My history goes back quite a ways because I'm an old guy. I learned to drive on farm tractors and graduated to a 49 chevy that we tore up the farm fields until I got my driver's license. Then it was driving the family cars until I got my first real car a 1969 Chevelle, 350, 4 speed (boy I wish is still had that one in my garage.) I sold that when job, marriage, and family came and settled into working and raising a family, driving the mini-van etc. Fast forward to this year when my collage aged son decided collage wasn't for him and he decided he wanted to follow his love of cars by attending UTI in their auto tech program. We started looking for a leaning project car and recently bought a 49 chevy that a guy had on ebay and we bought it cause it had some things started on it and gave us a car we could learn on and have a good time too. I feel like I will be getting more from the forum than I will be able to offer as I'm not real knowledgeable about cars. I am however a professional photographer so I might be able to offer some ***istance in this area. I started my photo business in the early 70's as a track photographer at a local drag strip and now do mostly wedding and portrait work. Glad to be a part of the forum and hope to be able to get our 49 on the road.

what track did you shoot the photos at? i'm sure everybody would like to see some.[/QUOTE] I was at Oswego Dragstrip. Most of my photos were on slide film so I would need to get them scanned to digital...I'll see what I can do.
Welcome! There are some good cruise nights and shows around the area if you want to see more cars and meet some people The Cheaters show is 8/13 in Milwaukee and our show, the Hunnert Car Pileup is 10/8 in Morris, IL http://www.hunnertcarpileup.com
Early 70s photos would kick ***! We'd love to see em! There are a number of pro photographers as well as a mul***ude of rookies like myself. I'm sure there will be some questions on photography that you could answer for us/me. Like how to keep the subjet in focus but put a slight blur on the background? I love that but can't seem to get it with my digital camera without the use of Vaseline) Welcome to the madness. (do go to the Pileup and bring your son. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!) Mike
With point and shoot digital it is pretty hard to get the field of focus to do what you want it to do. If you have a single lens reflex digital, you can set it to focus on the car and let everything else go soft. Or you can put it into photoshop and run a blur on it. One like this takes just a few minutes to do. Bill
