Thanks Brother! I got some great suggestions from my chop thread I posted and getting my ducks in a row on how I will procede. Im starting back on the project today. I got the 1999 S10 2.2 4cyl 5 SPD home yesterday from Ohio. I'll replace the 2.2 with 350 Chevy motor.

I am pulling the body off and by Thursday I will start the chop and removing 18'' out of the length of the 47 body. I have also decided that I am going to suicide the doors. I will post pics of my progress.

Yes Sir alot of Snow!!!! but was a great trip!

Thanks James D, I like and totally respect honest opinions. I thought I had put pics of this idea here but seen I hadn't. I did this in a paint program and did a Chop thread on HAMB. Maybe this will help in the idea that Im doing, And thank you for posting. Dan

Ah, ok - with a chop too. I hadn´t realised. That looks like it will work out well.
Without a chop would probably be a different story...:D

pinstriper, I am taking 4'' out of the top.

Today I started on removing the body on the S10.

I needed some info on the airbag in the steering wheel I will be removing tomorrow, and I posted a thread and got some help in that area. Just didn't want to get blown up! :D
I have alway's like those cheap old custom steering wheels, I had one that was only 12'' or less diameter. I got to find one of those again.

I can see shortening it a little like maybe 6 inches but 18 seems like alot. Especially if you're gonna run fenders. You could always stretch the s10 frame alot easier then shortening the body. plus it would still look right.

Looks like your making a sedan delivery. are you going to remove the spare tire indentation? Also the sedan deliveries had a car dash in them, totally different than the trucks and panels. I wanted to put one in my forty-one pickup i'm building but couldn't find one. Good luck on your build looks like your on a mission.

Great job rustyhood, I've been following your build, it's looking really good. I've got a 51 F-1 panel I can't decide what to do with, you may have helped, I'm here in Louisville too, love to see your build in person, PM me if you woudn't mind meeting in person. We may even know each other already, I'm the same age as you. You're welcome at my place anytime, my shop is downtown. Dave

Thanks guy's for the kind posts! Im really stoked on how its coming along.

slobroy, yes I dont like that big spare tire indent on the side so Im removing it. The donor frame has a tire carrier under it I will use instead. I plan on making my dash out of 16 gage sheet metal, but haven't got that far yet. :D

domepiece I have been useing a torpedo heater that has been keeping my garage perty warm. :)

DMFB, Son you are way further than I am.....so hurry up and finish yours so you can drive to Louisville and help your old dad! :D:D

Looks like a great project and it'll be a super rod.
Question....did you mean "latest" challenge as opposed to "last" challenge? I mean, are you going to be deceased after this is finished? If yes, please mention me in your will!!

Flatheadguy, I had every intention of this being my last build, but that got blown out of the water when I let my daughter help me on this build. I hope the good Lord keeps me around at least long enough to build her one! Im really enjoying this build!
As far as the will....? :D

I actually reached a point today that I could'nt find hardly anything. So I cleaned up one side of the garage (the side with tools) so I could continue. I decided to not lay the A pillars back because I want to be able to use my door windows. The A pillars lined up pretty good with the help of a couple of vise clamps. Instead of sectioning the roof, I should be able to quarter the upper door frames and move them it into position. I also got the heart set in just to keep me eagar to building it.

    Thanks guy's!
ratrodder34 I am so stoked on how things are coming together, I picked up a front clip last week and I can't wait to get started on it. I plan on moving the outter fenders in and that will narrow and give the front clip a sleeker look.I also plan on putting more of a roll from under the hood on the front to give it the 40 willy's style look. Thanks for hooking me up, this much fun should be illegal! :D
