I found this while digging with an excavator at work.

I have this posted on another site and thought since it is automotive related I would try it here.
If you have seen this on the other site let others guess what this is without spoiling it, please.

    So, what is it?
    (No...not the wheelbarrow)

First photos look like crushed 35-36 Ford trunk lower panel someone made from a Mobil sign. Bob

I'm still pissed that 50 years ago, a friend who owned a Mobile Station offered me his Pegasus when he re-modeled. it was so big my dad wouldn't let me bring it home.

Very cool....such an iconic sign to car buffs! The work you are doing on it, is awesome & it will have a great 'history' to it when finished....good vibes;)

I assume you'll paint the repair pieces to match +/- when you finish them?

I'm NOT. A fan of what many call "patina" but this sign is just awesome.

When I first saw this thread, I was going to say : "There's one that probably won't buff out!". How wrong I was!

Cool project, hope you're leaving the original sign as is and just painting the new pieces.

After some debate with myself on how I wanted to restore the front, I decided to put the black rust encapsulator on the rusted spots.(of course after wire wheeling them).
Then put white paint on all of the black, sorry no photos of the black on the front.
Here's with white paint on the front and the borders along the edge. Applying it only after encapsulator dried fully.
At this point... wondering if I had made the right choice. pegasis white done.JPG
