    the guy that owns the mechanic shop next door happens to come over today and saw my chevy. so we got to talking about what i'm gonna do to it and so on.

    he mentioned that he has a room full old suspension and motor parts wheel bearings and gaskets that where there when he bought the business some years back. that i can help myself to them if i knew the part #s since his computer won't go that far back. he said he doesn't want to throw them away but yet again hes not going to use them cause he only works on newer models.

    it was to late already for me to check what he had. he had locked up for the day. so if anybody has a sheet that mentions part #s for a 54 chevy. can you please pass that info along to me.

    thanks

    Probably GM part numbers. They'll at least crossreference somewhere.

    I scored a Chevrolet parts and Accessories catalog issued April 1, 1955 (at a garage sale) that covers cars and trucks from 1929 to 1955. It has EVERY freakin' part and number you could ever want, plus prices (from 1955).

    I can't scan any pages for you (1013 total) as it is good shape, and I don't want to break the spine.

    feel free to E-mail me a list of what you have, and I will do my best to get you any numbers or info you need.

    Bearing assembly, front wheel inner...
    46-54 pass,1/2 ton, 55 1/2 ton, part# 909052*
    NOTE: consists of cone, cup, and separator
    also lists these #s (ND909552)(ND909602)(ND909702)..."ND= new departure, but I'm not sure what that means.

    Bearing assembly, front wheel outer...
    46-54 pass, 1/2 ton, 55 1/2 ton, part# 909001*
    NOTE: consists of cone, cup, and separator
    also lists these #s (ND909501)(ND909601)(ND909701)

    This is ALL the info that the catalog lists. From what I can tell, it shows 29-30,31-42 pass, comm (exc.CC,DC,EC,FC) as the same part #s as well.

    CC= 1933 passenger(standard)
    DC= 1934 passenger(standard)
    EC= 1935 passenger and Sedan delivery(standard)
    FC= 1936 passenger and sedan delivery(standard)

    I hope this helps you...Chip

    Yorgatron, My catalog is a Chevrolet only (it seems) as it has part numbers and pictures for ALL the inside and outside trim moldings, interior pieces, and MANY blow-ups for ANYTHING that comes apart. I will be more than happy to look up any numbers you need, but I'm not sure if they would be correct.

    This also goes for anyone on the HAMB. If you need any part #s, please feel free to ask, and I will look them up for you.

    P.S. I also double checked to make sure I got all the numbers correct.

  8. Unless it was a dealer shop the parts are probably aftermarket. You might go down to the local autoparts, and get a look at things like the federal mogul book, and perhaps the Delco Remy book, stuff like that. Most of those books have a cross reference list in them, so write down as many numbers as possible.
    Then go shopping. [IMG] [IMG]

    That is a good point Mr.P'n'B..

    On the first page it reads "parts and accessories catalog for Chevrolet models 1929-1955" and "parts orders to be placed by Chevrolet Dealers with General Motors Parts Division". Also, "The "list prices" shown in this catalog are suggested prices for sales to consumers"

    by the detail of this catalog, I would assume that this is a dealer type item. It lists everything from car model serial identification, to all engine I.D numbers and so on. It has part numbers for every nut, bolt, spring, washer, bracket, gasket, clip, blah blah blah that was produced for the years stated.

    It also has many detailed blow-ups for all engines, trans, rear ends, brakes, steering, pretty much anything and everything that comes apart.

    I have never worked for a dealership, so I can't for sure where this catalog came from, or who it was for. But I have found it to be a very interesting read.
