  4. From a fellow Merc owner, believe me, they all get scary after awhile. It's just something in their soul.

Yea, pretty scary. The oldtimers always tell me once you chop beyond 3 or 4 inches, things get really hard to line back up. After seeing your pic I'm convinced of that. Looks good though, keep at it.

  6. Looks good so far, but I think you need more light in your shop!

That is called point-with-no-return... But it's good! :)

  10. Could you get another roof and glue 2 long halves together to bridge the gap a bit?Or make it a real long tail 2 door!

Wow...that's one mean ass chop. I actually really like how it's coming out. It's making me want to rechop my 54' Plymouth since I'm still at the half way point I could take a couple more inches out of the A Pillars and re do the B's and C's...hmmmm...:D

Pretty radical chop. Wouldn't pass inspection in my state. Reminds me of the 4dr. I chopped in 1957. :)

Abone ........I was at Verbe's the other day and he has a Mercury 2 door there.....and I KNOW you know Verbe and Russell . It was over on the scale side.....near the fence...to the left when you come thru the gate and cross the scales.

  17. We took about 8" out of the windshield, about 6 out of the side. Will have about 7" of glass in front. The back glass will be a section out of a 39 ford sedan. 56 packard tailights going in and maybe a contintal kit. Don't know yet about the front cap.

Damn there is just no substitute for a radical chop on a Merc.
Don't let the rear roof get the best of ya.

Here's my guess on how to do it. You'll notice the drip rail/door jam section has been removed already. Trim the roof section so that your drip rail/door jam section can be welded back on even with the rear of the back door opening.
Then fill in the missing horizontal gap of drip rail with sections you took out of the pillars.

 you need to center and install your rear window, and build around it.take it a piece at a time.your windows are going to be awfully small....never mind ,go for it....keep the heat down and the hammer and dolly close.
