Well I finally decided to post a few pictures of my build. I picked up two sedans and afew other parts in South Dakota two years ago . One a body was free!! It paid for the one I kept to build. Its coming along slower than expected but I'm in no rush.Anyway here goes my first real post so bear with me this is the free one as we found it! I repaired some small rust issues in the doors and a little bit in the floor framing but overall the body I kept is really solid. Igot it all braced up and marked out to remove 5 inches from the top. My dad and I got prepared to have some fun I decided to "unchop " the rear window so I could still see out of it . I know thats no fun but what can I say. no turnin back now [ my boys wanted it a little lower than I did put the top back on . Just right! here it is welded back up I ,
Nice chop!! So you are the one taking all of the good **** left in South Dakota. Getting hard to find anymore. I picked up a few bodys like that back in the 1980's for $25.00 apeice. Not no more... Keep us posted Jeff
Nice start on a Model A and a nice chop...but what I like most about this post is the family participation and the smiles...I don't care if that sounds ****y...I really wish I saw my pops long enough so we could do a cool project together... Dig it...
thanks if i can figure out how to add to this I have some more pics. cut up a 40 dash ro put in it , it was a little rough so I had some repairs to do looks pretty good filled the ash trays
Thanks guys ! Yeah its cool to have my family involved ! My dad built his first hot rod a 30-1 sedan at age 15. We as a family and friends built his 33 sedan 22 years ago, its been beating down the road ever since Well heres a few more pics, my buddies at IONIA HOT ROD SHOP offered up the use of one of their frame jigs last summer !!! (thanks again guys) used the belled hole boxing plates and x member from IHRS also rear cross member. Denny gave me some tips on tig welding and said practice on my new rails!
Thanks Dirtbag.... that doesnt sound right heres a few more I pinched the 32 rails 2 inches at the front cross member also at the cowl to fit the A body. Also flattened the top of the rails so the body has no gap to the frame.
Super nice work, Wish I had a heater like that in my garage and some insulation too. Wait it doesn't get that cold here in South Texas, I just don't like cold period lol... Keep up the awesome work, oh yeah, that '33 looks better than any other ride in the line up, the boys look damn proud of her too... will
Thanks Poorboy and Will . Yeah Will I dont care much for cold either, it kinda puts a cramp on a hotrodders style (thanks Hamb for something to do when its 0 outside) when I got the ch***is welded up enough to remove it from the jig I took it home to finish up. Oh and the time spent with the tig welder forced me to buy one of my own I had to sell my 66 Fairlane I bought when I was 16 to pay for it
THanks spooky , if you guys can't tell im bored right now I'm currentley laid off from GM for a couple of weeks(hope thats all it is) Once the frame was home I bobbed the rear horns and added a plate to the inside to finish it off . I'm no Ionia Hot Rod or B*** but my welds aren't looking too bad.
Thanks again . Because this is Michigan I bought this heater for the car , I liked the art deco look . Not sure what its out of maybe Dodge? Lincoln steering Wheel
Thanks Dreddynear i cant wait either ! Never had the body on the frame yet. Hope to have a roller in a couple weeks. Thanks again I'll post more tomorrow.
I dig it I like the dash, I want to do something like that in my A. That frame is nice! Now you can teach me to tig weld! Denny and Matt are good people.
Thanks Aaron! Yeah Denny,Matt, and Kevin are cool people they helped me through my first frame build. They made me do it all myself (and my dad) that way I learned alot more! It was 10 hour days for 2 weeks, it made me realize the talent they have to build on the level they do!!
looking good! its chopped the perfect amount, and i love the 40 dash and your steeringwheel. Im glad to see another 28/29 sedan going on a deuce frame, they looks so good!
