I just picked this up barn fresh in richmond virginia. The old dude that had it had started "restoration" with his grinder. He had purchased a to of new parts and all was included. I got it for $4800.00 and here on the ast cost i thought that was a hot deal. My plans are to get it running....drive it up and down the road....and the gut it. Im going with a 4" chop high boy on 32 rails. Probably sbc 2 4's and auto with 9" rear. bigs and littles, you all know the look. I will have tons of desirable parts for sale or trade at some point so if your looking for something specific hit me up. So what do you think? aint she purde?
Killer , I am building the same combo . I kinda wish I had fenders but it is too late for that . good luck .
What a great start. You wouldn't pick up the bolt on panels over here for that price. Ahh, Model A Coupes, don't ya just luv 'em. Can never be too many.
Im not sure there is anything wrong with the banger.. just checked timing ,plugs , carb ect. I willl put a battery in tonight and see what happens. As far as some one wanting the fenders....I hope you are right.
very nice start, looks like the drivers side has had some incorrect patching done - lower body line missing, etc, no biggie have fun, build it how YOU want to build it
Coming along nicely... I have sold a few parts and look to have a 283 chevy engine swap coming. Probably wont use it as my final engine but atleast i will have it for mock up. I won a 9" on ebay that was close to home but the guy is gonna stiff me..no contact in a week, must be it didnt bring enough money for him. The body is about as expected some sin but mostly very solid, even the floors. I will finish the disasembly this weekend. Oh by the way i did get it running and drive it up and down the road! it was pretty cool but not for me.
Nice find, nice car, and nice price.... Can't loose on a three thumbs up like that!! Good luck, and good for you. Cheers, Bob
Well i finally have made some progress and have some updates. I completed the tare down and then got after the frame. Bought boxing plates offline and they worked and fit well. The front is a super bell with 4" drop. The rear is a 9" form a lincoln versaielles (spelling?) Im not sure if i am going to go with the stock discs or drums on the rear. The ladder bars are from Jake and are very nice quality. Still playing with shock placement and ride height though. I scored the 283 from a fellow hammer and it is working great for the mock up, but i will probably settle for something bigger before im done. Turbo 350 trans. Once i get it rolling again i plan to do the top chop and start with the repair panels.I did get a tunnle ram w/2 4's that i will use. I also have been building a Shovelhead bobber and when finished if i make a good buck im going straight for a 6-71 turn key from big Als toy box.Thats it for now but man it feels good to be working on four wheels insted of two for a change!
By the way.... here is the shovel if anyone is interested. I have done some more to it sence this pic. it is basically down to the plumbing and wiring now.
No the 32 frame was my first choice but the funds were lacking and i really wanted to get started. Yes i willl be using coil overs on the rear. What does every one use for spring rates?
