I was able to get my modified done this weekend, at least to the point it runs and drives. Still need to finish the woring and a few small details, but it is basically done. I was able to fix my trans problem by digging into it and repairing the selector valve, so it seems to work for now. Hope it stays fixed! Funny thing today when I went a local car show with about 400+ cars. Lots of muscle cars, 55-57 Chevy's and smoothie fiberglass rods. I was about the only real traditional style rod there. I wish I would have brought my camera so I could show the contrast of my modified surrounded by all the other cars, it was like a turd in the punch bowl, hahaha Well, here is the first of a few pictures.
I don't know man, looks like a "death rod" to me... Just kidding. That thing kicks****. Is it gonna be your next tattoo?
Yea it was pretty cool seeing your car in the sea of painted ones... but at least when the gold chainers ask you "when are ya gonna fix it up" you can show them pictures of your two painted cars! (I can't) So, how does the missus' like it?? We need to go on a road trip in our roadsters... Sam.
Nice... I like it a lot. Would you trade it for a pretty nice Fairlane? I was wondering what you have going on with the rear suspension? It looks like you have left the underslung leaf spring pads on the rear end and you have some tubing bolted? to that??? Could you explain that to me, as I am thinking of doing a similar thing on my little roadster project. Do you have any pics of the rear suspension set up? JT.
I'm impressed with the steering. With the box center located over the wishbone pivot and the draglink parallel to the wishbone (or level) this car should have a minimum of bump-steer. Good job !
Really cool. Love the inline, too. I'll bet you got a lot of attention, regardless of it being "finshed" or not.
Thanks everyone for the nice words. It is a lot of fun to drive, although I have only driven around town. I think long trips could be not as much fun, the wind blast hits you right in the face, windshield is mostly decorative. Plus it is small inside, so I am a bit scrunched up when driving. I do like the inline 6 to be different than the standard SBC. Germ has it nailed, it has a 53 Ford 215 engine and trans. As for the rear suspension, I do not follow the question, but it has a two-link designed by Killer. The two-link bars do bolt to leaf spring type mounts on the rearend. I am going to add some U-bolts for extra precaution, one of those small details left to finish up. It has a 40 Ford transverse spring using home-made so-cal type mounts on the 8-inch Ford rearend. My high tech center console is cheap and effective, storage plus an arm rest.
neat to see someones pile of parts. make another guy really smile when he builds them into something that allows the wind in his face,, GERM
Glad to see you got the POS-o-matic working like it should. You must be breathin' a lot easier now. I looks almost as fun as your mini-bike. Give me a call at work.
Terry - Nice to see you've already got it rolling! You, Sam, Tim and me definitely need to do a Roadster Run!! Nice job, man. See you at Bakersfield? jay
