I know right? They came to me in a dream....

For the record, FltBLk came up with the body mount design. He's the ginchiest.

I don't think a bunch of foam is going to be too comfortable on a long drive....I'm thinking I might cut out a hole in the center of the bottom and lace some cloth strips (I don't know what the technical term for that stuff is called) across the hole...and then put foam on it and cover it. Should give enough cushion without messing with actual springs. Did dreadman do something similar?

Edit: Yup, this is exactly my plan of attack

Tman - I'm sure your seats are one of the many posts I've seen on making them....thanks for the inspiration to do it myself! I mean, if the knobs selling them on ebay can do it all day long and get $150/pr, I can certainly do it on my own for a very small fraction of that.

Got the other seat back fab'ed up today. Curved it a little differently towards the top (a little more flat) and I like it better. Have to make the first one match the second.

  8. Thats how it always goes! 1st side, OK, 2nd side kicks ***! Mine were the same way!

I had medium density foam on mine, never finished them. They were pretty comfy. You usually wanted out from wind and noise before your *** got too tired anyway!

I found the webbing you're talking about at a fabric store. While you're there, pick up some burlap to put over the webbing. It keeps the webbing from eating the foam.

Thats a hell of a good idea! Thanks!

Rusty - I'm going to put it back together. The bearings look good (or at least good enough). I've got some instuctions on how to put it back together so as soon as I get a gasket kit, I'll get it done. Should be enough to get to Austin and back I hope....

......huh? what are you talking about?

Thanks again everyone. The plan this week is to finish the floor and start working on the doors and dash area. Hopefully I'll have some progress to show next weekend.

Eric, If you haven't seen it already, I found some "foam" at hobby lobby that is pretty cool. It's probably old news, and has been brought up here before. It's called poly-fil Nu-foam.. It is compressed polyester. I used it on the buick seats and it is pretty cool. It is plenty soft, but unlike foam it seems to cushion better the more weight you put on it. plus it has a bunch of other properties that make it last longer than foam. I have some s****s I can bring tuesday.
