you can find the first steps here:
    http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=88234&&showall=1

    and an update:

Some work yesterday. Not a lot. Some rods welded on the body before cutting the roof (not done yet). A new mock up, with the finished frame rails (just 2 rails, no crossmembers yet).
Frame will be a little bit lower, body a little bit more channeled.
I don't have the engine yet (chevy 6 inline 292), but It will be here in a few weeks, and the engine will help to locate the body with more precision.
Body will also a little be lengthened behind the doors.
Wheelbase is around 100inches on this mock up, wheels are not the good ones, especially the rear ones.

Have you thought about Zing the front frame rails? It would lower it down and give it a much nastier stance.

Where did you get that hood?

  7. Are you going to run the motor from the car you got the rear wheels from??

If so you might need to run one motor per wheel to get the right number of cylinders.

Cut the roof off or I'll come do it for you.

Going to look very cool....and for the record, I like the stance. Low is nice but it gets old after seeing 9 out of 10 "rat rods" scraping the ground. Keep it high, it may not look "nasty" but it looks more like a serious hot rod than some toss shit together bucket.

    I like it.

    Just a question:

When you cut the roof off something like this, is it better to leave the stock windshield posts?... Maybe just chop'em down some.

i think it looked better with the lid on (needs to be chopped though) i really like the length of the bonnett. also add some frame horns up front.

    looks like a great start!

you might want to consider chopping the roof; cutting the roof off; and making it into a lift-off top.

Leave the roof on it, but chop it 4-5 inches!!

As miserable, cold and rainy as France is I would definatetly leave the roof on it. Yes, I have been to France several times and froze my butt off.

Always consider this: If you F-up the chop as a last option go topless.

Just my 2cents worth of advice

after a long time without working on it, I spent some hours yesterday on the frame, to enlarge it around the firewall area, and weld crossmembers.
    Looks now like a frame...

I like the looks of your frame. It looks like it is coming along real fine! I haven't decided about the lid, I like it both ways. Maybe it would be nice to have the option of running with or without, i.e. a carson top or something.

Those rear rims look like tits. Probably hard to find in the states, but they would sure look different/cool on the right car.

Actually i recognize those from my Grandpa's old Peugeot.

After weeks of nothing, I've worked yesterday on the motor mounts.
I still wait on some front end parts, that's why I started by that...

Needs now some finish and maybe some "racing holes"
