I havn't worked a lot these last months on the project.
I fund some time to spent this week. Worked on the front axle: grind and adapted F1 brakes on 37/41 spindles, rebuilt the brakes with new parts, changed the wheel bearings.
Tire are ready to be monted, 7.50x16 and 5.25x16 blackwall Firestone, so, wheels has been painted with a glossy maroon. I will post new pics as soon as the tires will be on wheels and on the car.

First time rolled out yesterday !
I'm really happy with the tire combo (5.00-5.25x16 et 7.50x16) and stance. Still need a lot of job now !!

started to work on the steering system.
It's a WWII jeep steering column and box.

    NICE! I love this thread

  9. I really like how this is coming along. It's cool how you used unusual parts, but it doesn't look cobbled-together. I especially like the winshield frame, I'm stealling that idea. And you can't stop me, you're all the way in France!

I've enjoyed this build immensely Etienne. Great work, great ideas, great inspiration, great craftsmanship, exceptional ingenuity. Sure wish I had some of those qualities! Love it. Keep at it. Perley

Not a lot of progress these last weeks (months ?)...
Here's some news: Since yesterday, the modified has a steering system.
Home made drag link, using WWII rod ends, because I'm using a jeep steering box, and the pitman arm has a "ball" end.
the steering sounds to have no bumpsteer (will see when it will drive !) and work well (box is NOS). Still need to finish the box brackets and column mount.

  12. Ettiene - I'm using the same brakes on my Modified. Here's what I've done with them;

NICE project! I'd keep the top and, as has been suggested, Z the frame for the best stance. Nice choice of an engine too! Good Luck!

no, the box works like this !
it's from a WWII Wyllis jeep or later licenced european product, and it works upside down on the jeep system (see below)

    it's a c4.
I'm not sure to make a hood. I have one from the c4, and it just need to be extended (around 1/2 inch) but with the carbs & exhaust, not sure if it will looks good. Will check that later...

    Worked a lil bit today
Column drop is now done, using the "on the dash" location and not under, because of the big distance between dash & wheel.
The red thing on the second pic is an aluminium cover (need to be striped and engine turned). I will put a gauge on it and some dash lights or switchs..

Steering works well, light and easy.

I wasn't very happy with my column mount, so I worked on a new one, kindly the same, but with a better lower part.
Will be painted the same color of the body, and with a turned aluminium plate, gauge & switches...

abd a b&w pic of the whole thing...
