This is my Morris Minor hot rod project. It is not a straight axle gasser, but it is going to be my daily driver. H.O.302,AOD automatic. 9 inch Ford rear.Mustang 2 front end. This car will need to corner as I like to cruise the Tn mountain passes. It must run at least high 12 second 1/4mile. So I can run some nostalgic drag races. I also will run it at the Maxton mile. I have a 3.00 gear for everyday and a 3.70 for the drags. I am presently installing an 8 point roll bar and then the wiring. The paint is going to be 1958 patina green. At least for the first year. I hope y'all like my home made basement built hot rod, and if you don't. Well too bad,I like it and I am 61 years old and it will probably be my last scratch built hot rod. I have some photos in my album.
Same here, I spotted this one today on a different site: http://oldholden.com/node/92449 Keep us updated SouthCross, that thing will be wicked once its finished.
Any more pics? what year? My buddy has a nice 52(?)if I remember right, convert he would sell to me for 2500ish and I have been thinking about picking it up. Your post makes me think I should. Nice ride!
There used to be one cruising around here. I always liked the look of them. You had better make plans to come up to the Loring track. We have a nice 8th mile track in Winterport too.
Nice and clean - good job, man! I have a similar one. Planning a dialy driver version now. Give us a road test report when you get it going, okay? Good luck and have fun with it!
Can't wait to see more pic's. Nice and low will be fun at Maxton. Mine's high in front and by 1/4 mile it starts lifting. It also has a 302. You won't have that (lift) problem, so should have no problems getting (low) 12's. Don't forget to post more!
Nice choice of powerplant. Looks like a really neat ride, let me know if you get up into the Bowling Green, Ky area, I'd like to check it out!
Nice work. I like your floors. So do you think you can get near a center weight bias? The little car could be a nasty canyon carver!
Here are some more photos of the build. Thanks everyone for the positive feedback,it keeps me motivated.
one very nice piece of work i have considered doing one but with say a turbo ecotech 4 to give better balance but havent got time because of altered and dragster project if anyone else trys one this way please post where i can drool with envy
20 years ago I had 2 of them. Sold them then realized my mistake. I went out and found 3 more (2 sedans and a woodie) that are now waiting their turn. Nice job on yours, keep the pics coming. You sir and now keeping me motivated!
Minors rock. Had one as a daily for 12 years. Loads of cheap fun. Friend of mine over here has one with an injected LS1. Drives to the strip in it pulling a trailer with his slicks in, swaps them over, runs 11.8, then drives home again. It can get a little sqirrelly during burnouts though...
Always liked these cars. Rod and Custom had a article in it a while [?] back about one at the salt flats.
Artiki, my DD is an modded LS1 Camaro and I love that engine, having one in a Minor has gotta be so much fun!
I had this guy do a bunch of work on my 39. I saw the Morris and was impressed enough to hand him my car for a total chassis rework. It's amazing what he does in a basement with just a few tools. I also knew him from circle track days. He'd pull junk out of the scrapyard and make it fly. He won a couple of track championships on a shoestring budget. HIs stuff may not be Billet by Boyd, but it's clean, straight, and works.
I have a PU that I think I may have to sell as I can not get a title for it. I have been looking for a sedan for a while now.
