I went out last week to at this 32 Chevy and ended up buying it. It seemed like a good idea at the time . It's not too rusty except for one of the back doors. The wood is all rotted and it came with a Model A frame. I dragged it home last night got it in the garage and thought "what am I going to with this?". Here are a couple pictures. I need to reorganize the garage then I can take some better pictures. This is it in the garage And in the field that it came from
Is this for real??? There are like 3 different early Chevy builds on page 1 of the HAMB right now! It used to be the few and far between that took these cars on. Now eveybody is getting a hold of them.....which is awesome!!! Looks like a great start. Let use know where your headed. The Model A frame is a good start and should save some headaches in the end. I have a '31 chevy that seems more difficult to get the right stance without modifying crossmembers and such. With the "A" frame it's a kick up in the rear and a drop axle up front, modify the steering arm and find an engine. Cool!!
Very cool I saw that car someplace before (Hmmm) maybe a question on here. doesn't matter you will have fun with it. Hey jeffrey james I think I have got my 28 figured out for dropping the front. But will only work on cars with fenders. If I do it, I will do a tech on it...John
I don't have a solid plan yet. I'm going to finish my 51 so I can drive it next year then start on the 32. I'm thinking I'll build a platform for the body then rebuild it replacing the wood with steel. I'm not sure yet about the frame. I'll have to change the wheel base some how if I use the Modle A frame, the Chevys are a little longer. I am happy with it. It's just going to be a lot of work and time. I was thinking about selling the Front fenders. Your garage looks kinda like mine!
NA!!! you don't want that ,I'm sure of it......... I would be nice to it I promise!!!!....................ok i'll let it go
Yeah the wheel base on your chevy is 113 inches for 32, but without fenders you can change that a little. As for steel replacement It's not that hard I've done about three of them and there kinda fun when you get into it. Oh and forget that other guy and send it to me, cause it would make a killer rear door sedan delivery and a more door is a perfect candidate...John
Thats what it did look like. I was just out looking at it. I need a 'B' pillar for the left side. Does anyone know if they are interchangeable left to right? It looks like they might be. Can anyone tell me what this knob on the dash was for? It says 'Firm Ride Free' on it. Thanks
I post on all the Chevy threads... it's an unwritten rule of mine (see avitar). That looks like a pretty decent start. Have fun with it and keep us posted.
I think they had 'Houdaille' type shochs on these cars, could be attached to those somehow? Don't know if my Dads has a knob like that, although he too has a '32 4 dr. It's a barn find in waiting............
If you need a hand finding pieces, PM me, I have a few sources for early Chevy stuff in our area. Or even just to see some ideas.
