I have a project that I bought off my uncle. Sold the rebuilt back to "standard" Model B engine and tranny. I'm going to do the dropped axle, Buick drums, etc. thing but everything will be reversible. Kinda wish I kept that 4 banger but it went to a restorer who needed it for his sedan and I neede the money.
I tore into the engine last night. It was grimey and poorly detailed. has less than 500 miles now. I guess I will detail the '38 motor to at least look good, and if I can get the correct motor, I will rebuild it and crate it up for the next guy. The flattie in it now runs great. just looks bad. some heads and a little chrome will go a long way.
Amazing find! I'd vote for keeping her pretty much the way she is, with the later flattie. You could always add a couple of pieces of period speed equiptment and make her the Day two deuce. Indy
I`m sure other people on this site have more early Ford knowledge than I but to my understanding there is a reason most stock `32 flatties are history. They didn`t last and most were replaced by later engines with much better reliability. Supposedly Henry Ford wanted the new V-8 out there before it was really reliable and for an extra $10 you got the new flathead option. My mostly stock `32 had a `37 engine installed way back and the old one long gone so they are probably tough to find. I know where there is one but he won`t sell it...
Nice car! I think that was on The Ford Barn or AACA site a week ago, somehow I figured a HAMB member would step up and buy it. Have fun with it! Bob
Harms RIGHT.......DO NOT CUT! Dropped axle, couple sets of different wheels and tires........DRIVE IT!!!!
Wonderful, wonderful car. Hop up the motor, upgrade the drive / brakes and lower it a tad. Yer done. Gary
Man I would leave it alone and drive that sucker!! An A would cut in a heartbeat a 32 almost stock noway just my 2 cents
Henry Ford was resting in piece until his last stock 32 wound up on the HAMB.. He's clawing his way to the surface!!! Bahahaha
