Nice looking car - and yah know I love a good strong flathead! You should be careful around that dang RatBastard, he can get you into all sorts of trouble! Well only got a couple of days left before our reliability run, before that it has to get signed off for a roadworthy and of for registration. Mate Cragar came over today, he's basically spent the whole weekend here fixing my paint screw ups, running battery cables, bleeding brakes etc. Got the first hurdle out of the way, connected 12v, all the electrics are doing what they should, a couple of minor probs with the signal stat switch, but overall pretty happy with the weekend. I think you're going to make it! It is a really nice build - love all aspects of it. If you've never ran a flatty with a 404A, you'll absolutely love the way it revs (especially with that light flywheel). You may need to slip the clutch just a bit, but not a big deal (taking off from a stop). Can't wait to hear it fire . . . please make a video so we can all "be there" with yah. Cheers Mate, Dale

He runs a 404A ? Its the best flathead cam i have ever used Better than a potvin 425 Such a wide power band I love that cam!

One of the symptoms of Deuce fever is the uncontrollable desire to spend tons of money. Another is running into people who assume their Deuce parts are platinum soaked.
Well I better update the thread a little. For those that don't know I help out with the running of our river city reliability run held over the Australia Day weekend, it's a pretty busy time of year, but I also had a goal of driving this roadster and taking my lady on her first run. It's been a week of highs and lows, exhaustion, exasperation, exhilaration, mate ship and finally relief and absolute enjoyment. The week started with a final thrash, a roadworthy inspection booked for Wednesday, well that came and went, a 40 hour straight shift on the car and roadworthy inspection at 7.30 am Thursday morning, all went well and a booking at registration dept at 1.00 pm. All was going well until they requested an engine number, so they issued one and said come back at 4pm Friday, talk about cutting it fine. Breeze through registration, done! This has been a 2 year journey, I've learnt a lot, on the whole enjoyed it, but it does take a toll not only financially but also on the family. I'd like to thank my partner Jess, my kids Cade, Dylan, Nicola and little maddy, I've been a part time dad and now it's time to take a break, close the shed door and smell the roses. To my mates, Cragar, you're an absolute legend, I'm indebted. Frank and Doug, when the pump was on you were there, thank you. To those adding to this thread, thanks for the support and encouragement. So, we made the run, the car performed faultlessly, had a smile ear to ear. It's a bit of bear to drive in traffic, once on the open road, wow. Anyway, thanks to all for coming along for the ride. What a great end to your build and to have it all done in time for river city run, even if by the finest of margins makes all the hard work and long hours worth while, good on you Thommo you deserve a well earned rest and some quality time with your family. Cully

Awesome! Sounds like one of our 'Bonneville Thrashes' - inhuman work to make a date, but boy is it fun once yah make it! Wonderful car and I agree - take a break and enjoy it a bit.
I saw some photos of the reliability run, it looked like an awesome day and you're roadster looked great.
