Good looking car and drivetrain combo, especially with the 4 speed. Some years back there was a quite lengthy discussion (with photos) on one of the Chevy sites about a 62 wagon that was found and purported to be an original 409 4 speed station wagon, don't recall if it was an Impala or a BelAir, I tried finding the posts but struck out. I often thought one with this combo would be a lot of fun.
Ordered a brand new 1965 409 single quad Super Sport in May of 1965 just before the 396's were announced. 400 hp, rock crusher 4 speed, 4:11 rear with posi., am/fm with reverb, p/s, p/b, white interior, red exterior with black vinyl top, p/w. Very fast and sweet to drive. Had Watson repaint the red in nitro the same color but nicer. Talk about a cruiser.
Drop the front about 2” for a “California Rake” and hit the road. Is the intake aluminum. The 2 I had were never painted... nice ride..
Thank y'all for all the great compliments. I'm so stoked about this one. I believe it's a Forever Car.
Those '65 409 engines have some rare pieces on them that were one year only. The exhaust manifolds and oil pan were unique due to the new frame in '65.
A mostly Ford guy here...BUT, THAT IS WAY COOL. I actually love 348 & 409 engines. My fav 60s Chevy is a 63...BUT, i LOVE YOUR wagon....truely a real fine 409 !!!!!!!!!!!!
Sweet Wagon! Could I have a ride in it? My favorite generation of Big Chevrolet’s. If they still built cars that big and like that, I would not drive a pick up truck. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Welcome to the 409 club! Would be a great tow vehicle for Impala race car with a big ol 409 dual quad stump puller! Enjoy! Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
