Well in Sept of '22 I was unfortunate enough to have a head on collision with a semi but thankfully am still here. Well, I have a '54 Victoria/Skyliner project I probably will not be able to finish (physically) and it will be going up for sale. In the meantime I still wanted a '54 so when I found this locally and jumped on it.
Well, I want to add power steering and have been told to use a '66-'68 Galaxie box. Anyone ever use this as an option? It has me baffled because of the sector shaft length. Thanks in advance.

Don’t know about 66-68’s but it would include changing the column or cutting yours. Would a 55 bolt in. There are completes for sale on the Facebook Ford pages.

Borgeson makes a box but it won't work with a 3 speed column ship per their web site.

I have the Borgeson box on two cars and recommend it.

There will be issues with the column shift. On my 56 that wasn't an issue because I went with a T5 swap at the same time. I used an Ididit custom column with out tilt. It worked well.

You’re too far from this shop but ABS in Orange Ca. installed power steering in a 54 Ford with a six. They were able to keep the column shifter. It was a lot of work and took 2 months but he was really happy. I haven’t seen the gentleman in quite a while but I know he was pleased.

Once again gonna remind people that if you add electric steering. If you steering box is ****, you will still have ****ty steering just easier ****ty steering. I'm talking about a wandering steering box or other funky issues
So the course of action should be to replace all those things and then have electric steering.

for the borgeson. I seen we post on him where someone took the time and shortened all the shifting mechanism, but it took some space up into the floorboard. But it still kept the original column shift.
It's a matter of shortening a few few tubes, adding a D or a mount for the for the soft coupler on the end and a bearing probably also a new shifter rod
