Just dragged home a new one - 1955 Buick Century. My plans are to get it running, fill in the rust spots, drop her to the ground and drive the hell out of it. Anyone know if you have to have side window glass (door windows) to pass inspection in Pennsylvania?
Cruise in on a nice warm spring day with all the side windows down. I had one of those in 1966/67 they are great cruisers and your buds will love the underseat heater on cold days.
I have a 55 Special 4dht that I stole the front sheetmetal off when I crashed my 2dr sedan. I am planning on a long term project to build it for my daughter with a 401/th400 for her. I have quite a few years to get it done, but atleast I have most the parts, and the time/place to do it. It is now second in line for projects, should be cool for her to drive in H.S. Can't help but love the roof line with all the windows rolled down.
I love the roof line too. The passenger side glass is cracked/missing. I was thinking about taking the glass out of the other side as well and driving it like that. It's a neglected Pennsylvania car, so it's a complete rust bucket. My goal is to do as little as possible and get it on the road. I have a 1951 Chevy that is in a little bit better shape that I've been doing a lot of work on. The '55 was the right price and I couldn't pass it up. It also should tide me over until I can get the roof chopped on the 51. Funny how I can justify buying cars I don't 'need'...
The guy that I bought it from threw in about 50lbs worth of trim. I guess his brother had a 56 that he restored, so he had all sorts of parts (2 starters, 2 fuel pumps, a shit-load of trim, extra fans, etc...) He even threw in fresh covers, intake, etc. for the nailhead. I figure I have about $400 in ebay parts... not too bad for a $850 car... The only thing it's missing is a master cylinder and a rear bumper.
