Mounted my new radiator catch can today. Using one of my FoMoCo fire extinguisher for the job. Not yet finished but a good start has been made. 1928 Ford Closed Cab Pick-up 1929 Ford Roadster 1951 Mercury Coupe 1955 F100
Great looking overflow, polished brass and FoMoCo to booth. What the heck is that circle looking thing inside the radiator shell? HRP
Pretty hard to argue about that, really looks sharp! Were these sold with Ford trucks, or did it come out of a Ford plant. I saw a set of machinist Jo-blocks once that were etched with a guys name, followed by Master Toolmaker and the Ford logo, thought those were pretty cool.
FoMoCo branded are pretty rare. From what I can tell it is a General Quickaid Model 85HD. Maybe Ford did a deal with them at some stage. You see a lot of Pyrene & Fyr Fyter etc. But not the FoMoCo branded ones. I think it suits Da Bomb just fine. I was lucky to get this one with the bracket & all. Kenny.
That'll be "Da Bomb". This Hotrod comes with some history. Rich Oakley played a role in it also. I recently had to replace the radiator core. The BOMB on the core formed part of the history. So I carefully took a template from the original and re applied once the new core was done. Da Bomb lives on. Here's the original. Here's what I was able to achieve on the fresh core. I must touch base with Rich to try piece together the time line of this great little ride. Is Rich still doing his gig in Nth Carolina?
