i found an add on craigslist the other day and decided to check it out, i finally had time to look at it this morning and decided i was going to drag it home! this is my first Hot Rod!!! i will build this as a 60's style hot rod... i'm thinking Orange body, white frame and firewall, and Chrome!!! and BTW, people love old cars...they love old cars ridding piggy back on another old car even more!!!! i have both doors and decklid, i do need a Visor though. the car spent its life in a Sand Pit i was told so thats why the bottom few inches of the car is all rotted.
i can't believe i even fit the damn thing inside the bed of the truck!! hell my ranchero is bottomed out as it is, i drove out about an hour away in the sticks to pick up the body. i had no intentions of bringing it home that very moment but i thought i'd give it a shot, hell it fit!!! so i cruised back home on the freeway and didn't rub or anything, it was ment to be!! here's the body with everything attached...
You got a pretty slick body there... I've got one and have done a couple build updates if you want to check them out. Great score!!
That looks REALLY good for 80 year old tin. Its a great feeling dragging something like that home isnt it.
i think it's bad ass that you brought it home in your ranchero. that's the way its supposed to be... do i spot some initial chop line guidance spray painted on the car? if so, it's gotta be chopped way more that that! congrats on your find. someday i hope to find a roadster via the same means-- it'll just work out someday. -scott noteboom
I just bought a 27 coupe today! I can't wait to get it home in of couple of weeks. Yours looks a little nicer than mine. Are you going to chop it?
>>>the car spent its life in a Sand Pit i was told>>> So it's been, ahem, sand blasted for you already ;-) That was too cool seeing the coupe in the back of your ride. Very cool indeed. Good luck with it! Al in CT
i'm stoked on this thing. it will have to wait its turn, i will get my '55 chevy running again before i can get to this project, but for now i will continue collecting parts for it at least. the bottom is really rotted, but look like simple patches can be made. like i said a 60's style hot rod is the plan, nice chop, not over the the top (i'm 6' tall) and drive the snot out of my cars and this one will be no different. i'll be asking lots of questions for the buildup of this thing cause this will be my first build. here's the bad...
