Florida is the perfect place to drive a cl***ic car year around. I finally found the right one, at the right price. It’s a 1947 Chevy Styleline. I definitely needs some TLC. On the plus side, the frame and undercarriage is virtually rust free. It has a good running small block Chevy, automatic transmission, front disc brakes, and a 10 bolt rear end. It needs multiple dents bumped out, paint, and a whole list of mechanical and electrical stuff fixed. The only modern conveniences I require are AC and a decent stereo, both of which I will add. (I had to edit out the non HAMB friendly wheels. Feel free to photoshop in some aluminum slots or chrome reverse wheels if you like.) View attachment 5507205
Neat car, I had a '46 2 door sedan for a while. But just so you know, "Styleline" didn't come out until 1949. If this is the lowest trim level, it's a "Stylemaster". The cheapest trim was Stylemaster, then Fleetmaster, and the top trim level was Fleetline. I always thought that was a funny naming scheme, "Fleetline" sounds like cheap cars for taxi cabs and "Stylemaster" seems like it'd be the one with the most gingerbread on it, at least to me.
Yeah there seems to be some disagreements about the name on various websites. I don’t see the name written anywhere on the car, and I don’t know anything about them.
The holes in the back part of the hood originally held these emblems. It's the only part of the car that called out the model.
You are correct. I get asked all the time if it's a "Fleetline" or "What is it". I like Stylemaster because its rare and unknown to most folks. @Driver50x, you will find out what a *****in car you have, and you'll love it!
It is definitely a “different” looking car, and I like different. @Sky Six What size wheels and tires do you have? Those look right to me. I’m thinking about going with aluminum slotted wheels.
205/65R15 Front 225/75R15 Rear Hankook tires I have attached some pictures with baby moons and white walls just to give you some different looks.
Congrats - similar to my '41 Chevy 4 Dr sedan that was set up with V8, auto later rear.but, left for dead years before. Install wiring kit with good quality crimping & stripper tools
Those are good cars, roomy inside too. There is one around me with a newer front stub (Camaro?) welded onto it.
