Well, I went ahead and bought that 60 Olds to get the engine and trans to put into my modified. The car is a Super88 4 door hardtop. Licensed current reg'd driving car. Has original paint and interior, both showing their age some. Body is straight and rust free, except the floorboards have surface rust. The car has 98K on the odometer, and the engine runs super smooth, no smoking or bad sounds. Should be real nice in my modified. I am going to part it out and except for engine and trans, the rest is up for grabs. I already have the fenders going to a fellow HAMB'er, and discussions of interest on a few other things, but send me an e-mail or PM about anything you might want. Here is the car:
Got any pics of the dash/steering wheel/column? If they look the way I imagine them looking, I might be interested in those...
Just looked up some pics of the interior in 60 Oldsmobiles, and I am now definitely interested in the steering wheel and column. I will PM you ASAP.
I don't need it so I am mentioning it here in case someone else does... If that windshield is not broken, it fits ALL 1959 & 1960 GM cars that are 2-door hardtops, 4-door hardtops, and convertibles. Oh yeah, and the vent wing windows are the same for 2 and 4-door hardtops. Terry- Sent you a PM on something I 'do' need on that thing... Travis
BlownOlds PM'd you, thanks for the help. Tragic59, sent you a picture of the dash and wheel. Travis sent you a PM. Thanks for the info on the windshield, this one is not cracked and good shape, not scratched up or delaminating, etc.
That car actually looks better in person! I figured all the four door lovers would be up in arms about you chopping it up... but alas, four doors make good donor cars... Sam.
I agree Sam, chop that ****er up. There were a few people that seemed irked that I hacked up a perfectly good Buick for my truck, but it is all for the greater good, right? My wife almost had some dude in tears at the pileup when she showed him a pic of what I cut up. What the hell, it was 300 bucks. It is going to go into 3 different projects. 3 is better than 1! Besides 4 doors **** anyway.
I think it takes a really talented guy to pull off a four door build... like Mike's four door Merc and Sean's four door '57... they are cool... but then again, those guys have about ten times the amount of talent and "eye" for what looks right than what every other four door owner out there has... Sam.
Damn, you would have to live halfway across the country. I'd buy the whole thing from ya in a heartbeat. Maybe two heartbeats. Byooik needs a cousin to hang out with, she gets lonely. You can keep the 394, I'd snag the Olds 455/TH400 that's sitting at the local junkyard and drop that in. Ah well. Fun to dream.
