My new nailhead alt. mount...

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by JK, Sep 28, 2003.

  1. It's really amazing what I can get done when my computer is broke. This took about 3-4 days to measure and fab up. I'm really proud of it. Tell me if you see anything wrong with it. This is waht I started with. 1/8 thick steel.

Don't see any reason it won't work. If you're happy, we're happy.

  5. Here's the gusset to connect the two pieces and strengthen the whole mess.

Looks a lot better than a big complicated $150 billet bracket to me!

WE don't need no stinking 1-800 brackets. Anyone who buys everything for their cars miss the satisfaction of making a neat piece like this . Looks good.

I think it looks really great.....It's a good feelin when you get to create somthing with your hands for your ride, to start making it into yer your own ride,,,I think it's the same kind of feeling, that thousands of other guys on a hundred other boards. keep feelin too.....I think you got the bug and it may be too late to save yah....the only hope that might save yah is, if you get rid of it before yah paint it ....cause if you see it shiny,,, your dunfer.....Fatchuk

Cool job man, I just modified one of those to mount a '56 12v gen on my '49 olds. [IMG] Cut the hell out of the thing.

  12. Fatchuk...don't worry, I've had this disease for many, many moons. I was helping my dad work on his cars since I was pooping my papmers. I've had this car for going on 14 years. I've built it 3 times and this is the longest it's taken. I was hoping to have it running under it's own power by Sherman-Dennison, but it's not going to happen.

Bracket looks good to me. Just outta curiosity, is this the same nailhead that was for sale at one time?

  17. No, but I may have the 401 sold.
