    Have you considered flipping the blower the other way up? That'd lower it by the rotor spacing. Are you planning to run a spreader bar? It'd be cool if it didn't quite clear the blower and therefore needed a clever and elegant detail at the front end of the blower.

    Building this in Holland would be muchhhhhh more difficult, try to find an engine like this and i'm sure they are out here too but probably not for sale.:(

    If I lower the engine about 2" the blower will be just above the front bumper mounts on the frame.. thinking that would be a possible mount point for the blower.. kind of like a spreader bar/mount maybe?

    Even in the US it's really hard to find parts for a 1932 Chrysler 3w and harder for the V12's.
    My advantage is that I have a very extensive parts collection, so I can mix and match and find the pieces I need. Having a 10,000 sqft shop with a full fabrication setup helps a bit to.

    Making progress.

    Got the hood sides cut off and got some parts in for the lake headers.

    Made a BIG decision today. I'm going to get the car running without the blower first. I want to drive this thing and I'm thinking the blower is adding too much complexity that I don't need right now. Already thinking about how to use the two air cleaners without the blower. The blower will remain with the project and the drive has been build, so I can always add it later.

    The hood mocked up with the lake header in for one side. I'm planning to run these with baffles for now, see how loud it is, if too loud I'll add an undercar exhaust.

    Love the build, but just can't get past the blower stickin' way out front. The only way I could see doing it that way would be to lengthen the frame and fenders enough to cover the blower. It just totally ruins the lines of the car for ME... sticking out past the radiator and fenders...but thats just an opinion. Like the idea of getting it running without and working it in later.

    The blower won't stick out, it sits between the fenders and behind and slightly above the bumper.
     
  9. You might be able to beef up the shock mounts and run old school air shocks on the front with just enough pressure to raise the nose a little. You could adjust the stance a hair as well.

    Love this project...

    Slowly making some more progress.

    Did some work on the headers and baffles, test fitting the grille shell, headlights, air filter housings and intake tubing.. final result: the engine needs to go back and down to make it all fit right. That means the water pump and/or steering column will need to get massaged a little bit, just some more work.

    While I was working on my project my oldest son was working on his first car, slightly off topic, but still any car guys dream.. working together with your son.

    I've got all of next week off, but have some other things to do, getting the Early Ford V8 club to visit the shop in a few weeks and I've decided to make a nice display of some flatheads 21 stud, 24 stud, 59A, 8BA, Zephyr v12, Seagrave v12 and a Cadillac 346 v8.. almost all of those will have to be pulled from storage and put on a stand.I see some welding in my future, great work at 110F :mad:

    Had a customer make me a very cool CNC present.

    Company logo and a 1932 Chrysler 3 window coupe, see the size of this thing compared to a standard sized business card!

    Slowly working on the car.

    Finally have the engine in the right place, the rear motor mounts are in, the hood sides are cut, the first intake tube is welded and on the block, exhaust tube is mocked up.

    Going to have some work making a new K-member, the current one is too far forward to fit the new transmission.

    Progress has been very slow last few weeks. Too busy at my day job and too many customer projects needing my attention.

    Spend some time on the exhaust today, first runner is in and the intake and exhaust seem to fit together well.

    Hi, enjoy watching your build. I have been running the Pierce V-12 engines for over 20 years. I can give you lots of insight on the motor, parts new and used, and common problems with them. Most of the time the cam in the engine is junk due to the dual distributor drive, and cams are very difficult to find. Dee Howard ran a Seagrave coupe at Bonniville in the 90's and ran too much boost, pushed the crank out the bottom of the block. I have never seen anything like it before. His guys that built it are from Texas and may still be around. They made new heads from scratch, and also had head gasket failure problems. I think the car ran over 200 mph, but I can't remember.     Some updates, a few of you saw the car yesterday at the Texas Thaw.

    New front cross member is in, grille shell is updated, rear axle installed, blower and one of the headers mocked up.

    The supercharger looks big because it's a 6-92.

  29. Yeah, where's the rest of this story?! I love this build thread, i have a 1930 Chrysler 3w here in the UK and reading this has helped my motivation and opened my eyes to possibilities.

    Hope its coming along and you're just holding back on where you are with it now!

    The good the bad and the ugly;

    - Been busy with customer cars and kids
    - Have not worked on the Chrysler much since the beginning of summer
    - Have collected some more parts and because of the work have more funds to spend on it

    Planning to go all out on the Chrysler again as soon as the temperature gets to "manageable" in the fall.
