heres an idea ive been kicking around
just may add another year to the project
2 inch section at the beltline
this may be alittle more realistic for your project Andy
seeing you have swapped out the straight 8 and radiator
in my case I would leave the hood at a 0inch section
and angle to 2.5 to 3 inches at the trunk
this would thin out the big caboose look
hiding the trunk behind the quarter panel

    its ok dream right?

Now that is sweet.. I can see a cream white below the molding.but that just me..lol

  3. That looks killer hacknwhack . And yes the proposed project would add more time to the build . I know what you mean by the short and fat back ass of this car . Maybe when I alter the roof again it will flow better . I want more slope to the roof , so off it comes . Andy...

I agree creme would look good in the cove . Speaking of the beige color I picked up my interior material last week . It will be two tones of a beige / creme color . I wanted a light color interior on this car as most of my other I went for the traditional black . ( Hot when cruising the summer ) Andy..

Whats a little more metalwork for the right look Andy :D Besides the metal work is the fun part...its all the mud work and fit and finish thats not so fun ! I love the last rendering, it does look great!

Cool sled. C pillar too fat indeed. slanting b pillar will help the rear quarter window and shrink front side window also; which would be good. lowering the rear of the roof (chopping rear more vs. front) and sliding a bigger rear backlight forward will also help. Easy for me to say :)

  9. Good !!!!

Good + Better + Best :) Now were firing on all eight . Looks damn nice to me . We have a winner . The quarter will get cruiser skirts and the front fenders will get sectioned and have 1.5 - 2 inches added to lower the profile , but I wont have to alter the suspension , keep it all stock 89 Caprice . If you can add some cruiser skirts ,then we would have the desired final result . Lake pipes also if you would Doug . You are the man . It will be my new avatar after those additions . Andy..

Andy, not sure what style you wanted for skirts so if you have something specific in mind pm me a link to a pic. Also just so you know the pic I redid is chopped more in the rear than in the front and the trunk lid was sectioned some. A lot of work to match the pic but as far as you have went so far whats a rechop timewise in the whole project? Its only time right? :D

  19. LOL I dont think the wife would appreciate you chopping and sectioning her dog but I think its hilarous !! Andy PS thanks Doug for the skirts and lake pipes . I am not to sure now that I see a rendition with them on the car . I kinda like the Photoshop pic without . Indulge me one more time if you will . Same side profile , no skirt , lakepipes either and then radius the wheel arch like ( I believe ) a 55 or 56 Buick . I know you guys arent a big fan of radius . Lets see it anyway please so we can put that idea to bed also . Andy...

Andy, its your car, build what you like. Everybodys opinions mean nothing really when you are the one building it and ultimately driving it. All the opinions can make it confusing and make you second guess yourself. Be true to what you like and what you will be satisfied with. See, another opinion......:D

    Andy,
For the last few years It's the '39 sedan in my avatar.

  25. Well boys and girls . I have to admit this chopping thing is a bitch if you dont take your time . Ask me how I know , Its all been removed and lowered another inch at the B pillar . It flows now, longer and sleeker . The old saying is true haste makes waste . Waste of time , effort , welding gas , wire , electricity , sheet metal, all in all a big fuck up that is totally my fault . It only become obvious when I went to lay some metal on the C pillar pass side . The B pillar on the drive side is at 18 degrees and the B pillar on the pass. side is only 15 degrees . That isn't cool , and it let me know in a hurry once I started to try and work the pass. side C pillar . No pictures yet , as I am asshamed of the regression . It just looks like it did 4 months ago . Maybe in a few days I might be throwing up some new profile pictures . Later , Andy....

Andy, no shame in redoing it, be proud that you have enough pride in what you are doing to want it to be right. It does suck redoing something you have spent a lot of time working on but I always chalk it up to Learning! If you had several chops like this under your belt already and had to redo it that would be different but I for one applaud you for taking the action to make it right. With that said know I am waiting on pics already!

Good to hear that you've done something.I think its not shameful thing to re-do something, but its a shame to leave something on the car that you dont like.
    Keep it up!

  29. Thanks Finn for that philosphy on leaving something done to a car that you dislike . Those are the projects that get dumped at a loss to yourself but a gain to someone else . I am moving ahead again ,I think this is a one step forward two step back kind of thing going on here !!! !!! Andy...
