Wow. This is looking good, that 60's hotrod style is timeless. I never get tired of looking at Cool Ass 40 coupes on here. Cant wait to see it in person. Rust Revival??? Great work, keep it goin. Gary

Thanks Gary and Nick. (Gary your '40 has been a lot of inspiration for me throughout this build) Im hoping to get it at least drivable and have it at the Rust Revival, actually Im hoping to drive it to Torque fest but that is going to be close and I don't think it will have an interior in it by then. I got a setback today though that might blow my plans. I have a bunch of parts at the media blasters that I've been waiting on. I went to check on them today and he is SWAMPED and way behind due to everybody's race car stuff trying to make opening night in a few weeks. I can't complain though it wasnt that long ago that was me trying to get my racecar done at the last minute so I'll hope for the best. He's a good friend I know hell try like hell to get them done for me. If all else fails I'll just bring my shitbox truck.

Been making some progress a bunch of little stuff wiring ETC... spent the night tonight putting the dash together put the heat/AC knobs in the dash where the factory controls were originally. hoping they wont stand out too much. I would like to get some Blue Mercury knobs on there soon. Still trying like hell to get it done for Torque Fest but its not looking good. Still waiting on the glass to arrive.

Well looks like Torque Fest probably won't happen as I haven't received my glass yet, but on a positive note I have my dash installed and A/C in too ( Thanks Tim for help with the parts vendors and stuff) I used the 4 factory control location for the knobs and have the 3 vents in without any mods to the dash two use the existing ashtrays ( Mine had the early flip Up ashtrays instead of the pull out style that most had) so you can just open the ash tray door to expose the vent. The center one is in the speaker grill mounted in a piece of black poly board to help hide it.

Getting closer but sadly I'm not going to get it done for Vintage Torque Fest, looks like I'll miss it by a week (finishing the Interior will have to come later) but I've been making some great progress last few days. Im gonna keep plugging away at it though.

Thanks Tim, I'll call ya when I get a chance and fill you in more but everything went pretty much like you said. Thanks for all your help those vendors had almost every single part I needed. I guess I'll find out how good I am when I get to aligning the front sheet metal. I'm witing on my running boards right now.

Well since the forum was down I had more time to try to finish this thing up (or at least get it driving for Torque Fest and the Rust Revival), So still shooting for The Rust Revival. Im getting pretty close now, The wife covered the running boards in the same material the 65 mustang buckets are covered with (its an off white pearl) we got them installed along with most of the front end. Put some carpet in it for now and put the buckets seats in it. IMG_3582.JPG

Bahama Blue was a '55 Cadillac color, and was quite popular as a repaint color on kid cars in the day. There was a nice '40 coupe at my high school painted in that color, and your '40 reminds me very much of that long-ago car.

  16. Hard not to recognize the car, especially with that license plate on it. ;-)
