First post at the big peoples table...
Bought the car from a great aunt, its been in the family since the early 50's.
The drive train was changed to a 52/53 ford flathead in the late 60's by my father in law and his dad.
Currently the motor/ trans are out and the decision process has begun. I have the flathead trans combo, also have a 351C and FMX (don't know much about this tranny), and a 427 needing some componets.
I'm leaning toward the Cleveland, like to upgrade the brakes, maybe the rearend. I think I'll keep the body pretty much stock and just have a "sleeper".
    What do ya'll think?

They put either an olds or cad in them also, which would be more era correct and still have good performance.

Just curious, is that still a "closed" driveline? If it was me and it still had the torque tube I'd hook a 292- 312 Y-block to the early trans. I'd make it look like it came that way from the factory. That would leave `em scrathing their heads. Nice car by the way!

Yea I ran into a guy a few months ago that has a 42 Lincoln convert with a 50's cad motor and trans. I'm a bit of a Ford junkie however and will probable stick with big blue.
    Thanks, Jim S.
