Yeah I have considered making some doors. Like you said, It can't be that hard. I'll wait until I see it in the flesh and decide then

Totally agree the zoomies are so home made. I'm curious to know why you think the rear half needs to be replaced? Yes damn johnny law

Looks too much like a box that's just been thrown on there, no real swage lines or shape to it. Thats all.

Thanks for your feedback n.z.rodder. It's funny, I hear what you're saying but I kind of like it for that reason :) It's sort of typical of that home made A modified look. I get it this coming weekend Saturday 9th so I'll have a better idea once I walk around it. I do want doors though so I either make some or go a different body.

    Hi guys,

So we left Melbourne at 3am Saturday morning to pick up the rod. We got to Broken Hill at 12:30 pm with the empty trailer ready to load my new rod. It turned out to be better than I thought and although it needs a lot of work I'm still super excited! The dude was a champ and as It turned out he had truck load of projects and some really cool bikes. Chatting away he actually knew some friends of mine and knew of my car I sold a week ago to fund this project. Small world.

As soon as I saw the rod I new I'd made the right choice. I was a little concerned about the hand made body before seeing the car but after walking around looking at it from different angles it actually looks really good and much better in the flesh. Most of the car has been tacked together apart format the chassis so we strapped it down well and off to the caravan park for a shower, a bite and a beer!

We ended up crashing out at 5:30pm that afternoon and woke up at 9:00pm [ 4 hours later ] to find we were both wide awake. We decided to hit the road which was a bad choice because the amount of kangoo's between Broken Hill and Mildura was unbelievable! I've driven at night many times but this was insane. About 2 hour later one jumped out in front of us and hit the front drivers side corner. We stopped immediately and accessed the damage which looked to only be cosmetic. 30km later the car over heated and we automatically assumed the roo cracked the radiator. We topped up the water, keeping an eye on the temp gauge. We drove about 80km before it over heated again which was about 40km Melbourne side of Mildura. We decided to turn back to Mildura and get the car repaired in the morning [ by this time it was around 2:00 am ] It took 3 attempts to drive 40km back to Mildura as it just keep over heating, we made it and parked it out front of a spare parts place for the morning.

We asked a guy in a servo if he knows of a mechanic we could call at sunlight and as it turned out he knew of a dude that worked at a local Toyota that does cashies. This was really our only hope as Monday was Labour day [ public holiday in Australia ]. Thankfully he came out and and assessed the damage and as it turned out it wasn't a damaged radiator. I dumped the water before I left in when servicing the car but I hadn't bled the water which meant the car wasn't running it's full water capacity.. A lesson learned! We bled it, slipped him some cash and back on the road by 11:00am. It was a mere coincidence that the car over heated directly after hitting the roo.

    Happy days!

    Enjoy the pics.

Great project, steering column is on the wrong side tho' : ) Numerous threads/info to wade though. Check out the tech archives, that will keep ya busy for a while. You even got the obligatory first seat with the Farmers Union milk crate. For the first no brake/ hand throttle trip around the yard, although it may sit a little high.

Thanks @joeycarpunk I've been looking through the archives for help.

Although it can be expensive and a challenge @woodbutcher it does sort the boys from the men

    Cheers! @29ToyA

I like the looks of the car and the way it sits. I would make it sound and leave it olone.
