thanks for all the great comments, but all the praise should go to Andy the guy who built it. To answer some of the questions: the front has a 4" dropped beam and reverse eye spring, that's it as far as I can tell. The rear has been Z'd the hight of the ch***is so I guess a couple of inches. See pic. the tyre size up front is 6.00 x 16. The seat hight at the highest point (the front) is 8.5" from the floor. As for it being a ex museum car, that's it EX museum car and if it was a real rare car then yes I would agree with those that say it shouldn't be done, but Model A's aren't rare in any condition, there are lots of good ones and lots of bad ones, take your pick which one to rod. And the fuel tank, not an issue as far as I'm concerned, I'm used to riding a bike and my nuts are even closer on that. I hope this answers some of the questions and thanks again for all your great comments. Pete
Nice, This just supports what I've been thinking lately. I've seen more traditionally built cars in Europe than here in the U.S. lately. Magazine coverage, for one, seems to show cars throughout Europe and the UK that are built more like this. Notice it's not named anything? No stickers. I don't see a single Iron Cross. No gaudy pinstriping. No "theme," except old-timey. No cartoonish representation of a hot rod. It is a hot rod. No fake ****. It even has an interior and shiny paint. Take me for a ride next time I'm on your side of the pond please! Z
Thank you for the extra pics. You have a wonderful example of what an early rod should look like. I know there was a little comment on here about using a "museum piece" car as the donor but the craftmanship of your friend Andy elevated the car to a different museum. The Hot Rod Hall of Fame in my opinion. Thanks for the extra pics, and that is a true Hot Rod.
I like the stock grill and lights. You see so many 32 grill shells, not that there is anything wrong with them, but it is refreshing to see a stock grill. Very nice roadster.
WOW! Exactly what I am going for on my tub. I would have sold even more if necessary to land that one. Looks right and well built. Congrats - I'd move in case your friend wants to buy it back in a few years.
Resurrecting an older thread - this guy looks to have followed the Bishop-Tardell book closely and ended up with a superb hot rod!
Beautiful car, absolutely beautiful. I'm curious, though -- it looks like those high voltage ignition wires have clear translucent insulation. I've never seen anything like it. What are they?
I said this before and I'll say it again... that IS the Most beautiful Model A Roadster on the HAMB...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for bumping this to the top, great looking car , Id also like to know about the spark plug wires.
Really Great looking Roadster!! I was wondering if there is another picture of the engine? Its a 49-53 and a inch longer with a extra belt and fan system. I was wondering if she was shortened a bit or engine move back a bit? thanks
