Nice shop, glad you didnt burn it down!
I know all about the size matters issue.
I only had enough to build a 30X32 when I started here, (needed the rest of the money for the house)
Now I really wish I had enough to make the shop 60 X100 but I try to make due.

Thanks, My old shop that I sold was 55X70 but it only had a 9' flat roof (built in 1955) and it was 15 miles from my house.

Nice shop, After the winter is over with Dad and I are going to build a 50 by 90, with an office and a loft. We have a a couple big freight containers that we are packing things in now.

  7. AND SOME "FIRE EXTINGUISHERS"!!!

  8. I don't know you but I think I hate you.........;)

  9. ...very nice indeed, most guys only dream of such a shop.
...I know you're probly not finished with everything yet; but I'd suggest a kick-board on the floor at the bottom of your railing, so nothing would get bumped off the loft floor onto something/someone below.

...and, don't you guys have any snow?...we get dumped on every week up here, at least so far this winter.

  10. no more fires i hope:D

  11. Totally cool.

Room for some chassis tuning methinks....

Myself and 3 other guys rented a shop in an idustrial area and worked on our junk there rather then out of our houses. We had some pretty cool parties there also.
I could get into it real easy if I had a shop with in few steps from my back door.
Nice shop you lucky dog! I know you worked hard for it.

My old shop was in an industrial area as well and I used to live about a mile from it. Now about 16 miles from there I never would go. The new one is right across the street from my house, It is Great! Thanks

Congrats on the new shop..FWIW before you fill it up and you will. you cannot have enough electrical outlets so while you can install them.. Same goes for lights..Good locks and some type of alarm system.. You also have left yourself some very good options for additions in the future. Fire cabinets for storage of flamibles and fire extinguishes every 25 feet.. And one last thing make sure your insurance will cover anybody who is helping you work in your shop.. Nice Shop... Bobby..

Awesome shop! I'm in the planning stages of mine and I have been thinking about doing the loft/office thing. Was it that much more $$$ to add this? How tall are the walls? How tall is the ceiling under the loft? How tall in the ceiling in the office? Sorry for all the questions.

Are you getting 3-phase? Do you have to heat it in OK? I am working up plans for a new shop. Thought I'd build it big, partition part of it off for heating and one car and maybe a couple bikes...

Thanks for the tips, I am having outlets on every post on the open side and several on the workbench area as well. Planning for 15, 8' light fixtures and a few regular lights for tight areas. Also lights and outlets on the outside. Have 2 spots on the inside for 220, one for my compressor and one for a welder. and a security system will be installed as soon as power is to the building.

Thanks, I love it! The 12X60 loft added $5500 to the cost and it has 7'6" clearance under it and in the loft it has about 8' towards the middle and it drops to just over 5' at the outside. The walls are 14' tall.

Not going with 3-phase, just 220. There will be heat later it gets cold here Dec thru Feb. Looking at tube heaters, there was a thread on here about them a while back and they seem like the best route.
