Glad you guys brought this back up. Hadn't seen it. Point of interest. That spindle arrangement is the elliot axle. Our beloved Ford 1928 and newer axle/spindle arrangement is the reverse elliot. Then there's the lemoine, and there's another but I don't remember what it was called.

An interesting aside. The reverse elliot design became the standard due to easier bushing service. The spindles can be taken off the vehicle and renewed, where the elliot axle required either servicing on the vehicle or some serious dis***embly to pull the axle.

I'd love to get one of those ***emblies even if just for the garage taking up space. Oh well just as well I don't have room...

Look at the picture with the driver's side wheel raised up by a bump.
Rotate you head 15° to the left (counter-clockwise)
Or, tip your monitor 15° to the right ( clockwise).
Seems like the angle of both tires to the road would be leaning "out" pretty bad.
A bunch of understeer would be my guess.

I think 1963 up ?? Corvettes use the leaf spring just as a spring.
The half shaft is the upper lateral link and a lower link bolts to the "rigidly" mounted diff diff and the wheel hub bracket thing.
A control arm handles fore and aft loads
