Thought I'd post up a couple of pics of my latest project, it's a '28 Roadster body that I picked up for $450. Someone had hacked the cowl area, but it came with a decent cowl, they also tried to back it more roomy inside and cut the top of the body and moved it back about 5 inches, which I'll move back to where it's suppose to be. I wasn't looking for another project as I'm knee deep into trying to get my '63 Nova gasser (I'll post picks when it almost done) running before it snows. I plan on building a cool little hot rod out of it. I've got a rebuilt Olds motor for it. Not exactly sure exactly what else yet. I know roadster doors are pretty spendy, are there cheaper alternatives like modifying sedan doors or reasonably priced repops? Well, I'll have a few questions when I get started, which won't be for awhile, but here are a few pics:
I sold that to Jason455 on the HAMB here. He threw a big block Chevy in it and it's looking cool as hell. I always regretted selling it, but I needed cash for other projects
cool... i havent seen jason since... hell a year before we moved back to wisconsin anyhow. glad to hear it went to a good home
For a cheap set of roadster doors couldn't you just buy the full outer skin for a reasonable price and fab up a simple inner door panel...like you would do to an early chevy body...i would think it would be alot cheaper...but then again i don't have any model A's anymore so i don't know what the going cost of them are...just a though...
I'd go to Brookville for doors. What with a new cowl and moving the back rail up to where it belongs, you need all the accuracy you can get to make things fit up. You can probably get a new "tulip" panel to replace the metal that was cut out to move the back rail back. Just MHO, but I think a little money spent to get proper fitting panels would make everything go easier.
I'll check Brookville out for the doors and I agree about the "tulip" panel, I want to make sure it goes back where it's suppose to go. Fiddy, I see the car every once in awhile so it's a little bittersweet, glad to see it got built, but it kept reminding me that I shouldn't have sold it, but it was what kept me looking for another project car.
Never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever sell it! You will have bad dreams about it for the rest of your life! I am in that hell now and want you to avoid my mistakes!
I know, I've been down that road about 4 times in the last couple of years with 2 Model A sedans, a '32 Chevy coupe (above) and a '37 Plymouth 5-window coupe all sold to fund other projects and every time I kick myself later. I have 3 other projects that are pretty far along and shouldn't need me to sell anything to fund, so I have no plans to sell this, I'm going to finally build my Hot Rod!!!
Copy that!! I had a three window body back in the mid '60's I sold to some friends. Can you imagine how many self inflicted boot marks are on my**** by now !?!
