I am slowly teaching my daughters of the beauty of the old cars. I hope mine have a solid appreciation the same as yours seems to :)

You're a good Daddy, and you have a beautiful daughter. My daughter was barely able to walk when she pitched a fit to play in an old Dodge sedan I had in my shop for repairs. Since then she plays in every single car or truck that comes in and we take her picture in every one. Someday we'll hand her that photo album of all those days and times she was out in the shop with her Olddaddy. It's probably the only thing she'll inherit, but the memories are priceless. You're on the right track with your daughter, you're both lucky to have each other.

  5. Your daughter is definitely cute.. gonna try for one of those next!
Kids are cool aren't they!.. I can't keep mine out of my car.. every day he yells "car car" as soon as i get home and i have to take him right to the shop.

I'm working on turning my niece into a gearhead. So far it hasn't been hard. Every time she comes over, she plays in my '67 Mustang fastback for hours. She was ready for a ride in the '49 before the interior was even done.

    Farmer,
She's adorable! And she's stolen her Daddy's heart, I see. Daughters do that to you. Mine is 25 now and she can still wrap me around her little finger when she wants too.

Its neat when your car is so low that your daughter is taller than the car.

Mine likes cars, but prefers to have her boyfriend work on it. Keeps her hands pretty to play her violin. The running joke at Christmas is what tools did Dad buy her for her household toolbox. Boyfriends come and go but you always need to have tools around. The current boyfriend looks like a keeper. He loves cars and knows how to fabricate and build. He led the UofA SAE Formula Car team and still helps them out even though he has graduated.

Yes, boys will start hanging around yours soon.

There is nothing better than having kids to share time with.
This year our daughter became a working part of the crew and took on pilot duties when 1149 was under tow. She really enjoyed being the designated tow pilot and haviong the oportunity to help out.

My little girl will be 20 in October and will have nothing to do with my cars.
She dreams of owning an '69 muscle something one day. At least she has gotten out of the TUNER type cars.

Some of her friends on the other hand always gotta come out to the garage to check out the progress on my '58.

You could do worse than get your kids into Hot Rods and such. It's a great hobby/lifestyle/culture and I think it could keep them from real trouble later on. I've got one of each...boy (5) and girl (9). Named my boy Cameron...his Mom liked the name and had no idea that I just wanted to be able to call him "Cam". It'll look good painted on the side of his car someday! They've both been to shows and cruises, but Paige likes the drags. Haven't taken her lately 'cause it's impossible to look after her while I'm racing...but I'm going to go as a spectator very soon to oblige her. Here she is at the start and finish of my coupe build. Guess I'll have to start on another project so I can do the same with my little guy.

My "little guys" are 41 and 39. I had a ball having them around while they were growing up. Now I've got 7 grandkids to spoil (that'a grandparents job/obligation:) ). My son is in the middle of redoing the '69 Z-28 I gave him for him for his 16the birthday (second rebuild) and my daughter is up to her eyebrows trying to keep up with 2 girls and a boy. Time flies by so enjoy them while they're little and heap a bunch of love on them so they know the real meaning of being alive..

The most important things, family and hot rods. My 2 year old wants to be right there handing me tools and nuts and bolts. I love it. She calls the cars "bye byes". I feel very lucky indeed.

My daughter is definitely a car gal. She loves to help me work on them, ride in them, and she even loves car shows and swap meets.

I don't have any pics of her helping me wrench here at the office, but it's pretty cute, she's got her safety glasses on and ready to go.:D

It's awesome to see other folks get to spend the same kind of quality time with their kids.

  20. Even though he loves late model ferraris, he has suffered through a few years of car shows, the latest includes the rama. Someday he will come around to my way of thinking.

My little boys are both over 21 now so I had forgotten, til now, what it was like when they were in the 6-12 age group. Now that I think back those years were terrific. Little league baseball for five years was loved by everyone in the family, especially the grandparents, who have now passed. My mom and pop made it to everyone of they're games and loved it. You would have thought it was major league. Back then my hot rod ambitions were put on hold, cuz raisin kids ain't cheap. We made it to every car show possible to check out the latest and greatest on the circuit. I could ramble on a day on this topic just thinking back and remembering the good times we all had. Thanks!:)

That's my world right now...Karate, soccer and baseball/softball. My kids are into it all, unlike me. I was a one trick pony...cars and anything that went fast or made noise from when I was little. I'm not complaining-but I want them to try it all. I go to everything and love it all. Still, every friday night in the summer it's the "Somerville Cruise" with them, in the hot rod or not. Pizza, hamburgers and ice cream...and then throw 'em into the tub when they get home!

  30. awesome guys, thanks for adding to this post- i'm still just going through my broken heart stuff and other tough times being a single parent of an 11 year old son and having to wait to see my daughter on weekends- so, when shows come around and i get to have fun with both of 'em it just makes all the bullshit worth it. My ex doesn't know what to think...i think she'd rather my daughter not be into it at all but you can't stop her, she loves the old cars and most of all she loves me. So, whether i got a girlfriend of my own or not it don't matter cause i got Emma, and she's beautiful and she loves me- what more could a guy ask for....and she likes hotrods....lol
    keep 'em coming fellas-

what a bunch of cute kids you guys got- very cool
