Thanks Ulu. Duncan and Herb - you both have good ideas for a show at Dr. Dave's.

Here is someone's stellar 1957 Ford.

You're very welcome, Rod! Thanks for the comments and checking out the thread.

I was at NSRA today so not much got one on the CCR pictures, but I will be back on it tomorrow.

Here is someone's 1949-50 Merc with a very different front fender and headlight treatment.

The Chevy headlight treatment is pretty good! I normally don't think the horizontal bar grille treatments work so well. These cars would be much more familiar with bold chrome dentures.

It's a funny thing, but no matter how straight these things look in plan or dead on, from some angle they won't look parallel, and I think the rounded and rolled grille openings lend some adverse optical illusion even to that.

Now this orange job looks near-perfect from this angle.

  18. Dan,
There was actually 12 awards given out. My club "The Rodsters of Northern Indiana" gave our club pick to Dave Conrad and his 36 3 window. I am the one that presented the award on behalf of my club.
    Thanks
    Matt

Matt, what was the name of your award...I got that list directly from Kevin...and I will add it to the list of the CCR coverage on Rod Authority...

    Thanx,

  20. I believe it was just club pic. Our award was a 56 mercury 4 bar lancer cap with a spotlight attached to it and pinstriped. I believe all it said was Rodsters choice 2014. Rob Gerring is also a member of the Rodsters. He had the red 40 ford 3 window and Rex McCreary had the dark blue 36 ford 3 window. My car is still in the building stage, but will be there next year. :) Incidently, I donated the hubcap and spotlight from my own stash.

  23. Dan,
I just checked through my own pics of the revival and the Dark blue 51 Merc Monterey belongs to Steve Sheetz, and was entrant # 145.

Hi everyone - quoted below is the email I just received from Kevin Anderson re the winners.

"Dan Jetter's "Love 'em Louvers", to Tom Estes, blue flamed, louvered Chevy wagon
Kof Pittsburgh, to Keith Ashley's (Larry Ernest near clone, built by John Kouw), 51 Chevy
Rodz/Deluxe Award by Alan Mayes, Red 53 Buick, Ron Monnin, NY
Relix Club Pick to Gene Weaver's 54 Chevy Silver w/57 Caddy caps
Coolest Custom (by the Colorado crew) black 57 Ford, Rbt.Wilson, NY
K/Illustrated "Award of Excellence" to Marlyn (pronounced Marlin) Engert, candy red 56 Chevy
Gas Axe Garage Pick to Ted Buleson, green '40 Mercury, TN
Satan's Angels, "Hellva Car" to Larry Snell's maroon '52 Chevy Convert
Old Stillwater Garage, to Rick Marvin's Candy Orange '41 Ford
Edward's Drive-in Pick, to Kelly Puckett's awesome '50 Merc convert
KKOA pick, to Bill Johnson, MI, chopped '57 Buick
Most Outstanding Custom (Participant's Pick) Dave Jenkin's '57 Chevy

Here's the most interesting point I can make.
Typically, when participants pick a "top car", I'd always expect a handful of cars to have a lot of votes.

Not at this show! Too many nice cars!

We had over 60 cars with multiple votes. That's incredible and quite telling of the wonderful quality of the cars that were in attendance. Crazy, eh?"

Thank you Kevin for this and the wonderful event!

I wonder how many people didn`t vote, I know me and my dad didn`t, Only one vote per registered car. Like Dan said, way to many cool cars to pick just one.

I didn't vote because I could only narrow it down to only 15 on my list... I was thrilled to see the
'36 win an award. Hopefully it will be at Salina, I'd love to take some more pictures. The interior
was just as kool as the exterior.
