my "PICK" from BilletProof

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by roadstar, Sep 27, 2003.

  1. This car is "perfect". Everything about it goes togeather just right. IT is far from being a "RatRod". I'm sure if you were to take away the paint, some chrome and the detail, most people would consider it just that. Although this car show me what potential some of these hotrods have when they are taken to the next level.

I'm thinking so many more of the "beater/Rat/jalopy"(whatever the***** you want to call them) rods have the potential of looking great, if once they are****embled and shook down and any bugs worked out, and then during the down season(real long here in teh midwest) blown apart and refined They could only be that much better.

Now this is only an observation on my part and I'm in no way saying all these primered up hotrods should be redone to suit MY taste. But I llike to think of it as a natural evolution of a hotrod. Traditional? Hell yea! thats how Rodders have been doing it for 50 years.

That how and why cars shows started in the first place. To showcase workmanship and style. I'm not saying there were never unfinished cars in car shows back in the 50's though because there were and I have pics. But in most cased they would eventually end up improved apon over the years.

Just some observations form a not old but not young anymore hotrodder. Wht do you guys think?

    The car in question....

Well spoken! The same goes with custom cars...

  3. Yep...that is smooooth!

  4. As long as the driver doesn't look like a dog*****in a football when hes sittin in it,then hell yeah its kill......Shiny

  5. its for sale I think he wants $25,000 for it

  6. Actually I would like to see more pics of the car. I would like to see the interior. It looks like some time was spent getting the seating area back and most likely down. That has always been a problem with t's and a's is when you channel them you end up lookin over the windshield.

No doubt this little car has some real attitude.
If it's a HAMBers car speakup.

that car is NOT fiberglass, it's actually metal...
but it also has an inch of mud in some places...

I watched it get 'built', or should I say get 'thrown together'...

a true 'rat-rod'(or whatever) in my opinion...

    built low-buck, cheap, and fast...
    kinda sketchy IMO...

the engine is the best part, and built up right...
it is a super fast car...

the new(recent) owner had to redo all of the mud
and repaint it to make it look that good though...

It's truly amazing at what shiny paint will make some people think...

Plus, if you look at the 'center console' area,
at the seat, not the dash,
the top of it is off to the driver's side by
an inch and a half at least...

To me, it's about the details, not the overall look...
    I could go on but I won't...

Overall, that car looks pretty good...at night...

the details kill it in my opinion...

(sorry Dude, I had to set these fantasizers straight...
you know I'm telling the truth...) [IMG]

Maybe his ol' lady is an Orca-betty and needs the extra room on the passenger side.

That car was 100% homebuilt and has two incarnations so far. Awesome car and Mike is a great guy. That car shows what the future holds for those of us who like to improve our skills. Staying stagnant and not improving is no fun and hard to do. Like it or not this is part of the mix. Those of you who claim to have been at Billetproof since day one already should have seen the improvements in cars and their builders abilities. Traditional does NOT mean*****ty. Traditional means not modern.

that car is NICE, because of PAINT and TIRES... and chrome doo-dads,,,,,
But then again I know nothing about hot rods

  16. I like the steering box on it

  17. Maybe the center console was made to center over the shifter and cover the inboard support of the sprint car steering box [IMG]

It leans toward the driver's side at the seat, not the dash...

the console around the shifter, and up by the dash is ok...

It's a matter of actually measuring, and having a good eye...

not just, oh it's close enough, whatever...

I mean after all it's a "BILLETPROOF" prior winner...

that has to mean at least something since BILLETPROOF, became a NATIONAL BUSINESS venture...

thats almost better then "LAKES HISTORY"..

if someone PAID 16k for that car, the seller got lucky, even before the "MUD UPS",,,
In RAT ROD, world, MUD OVERS is called METAL FABRICATION,,,

deadfast, don't get your cuffs all lop-sided, I wasn't knocking the car, just saying i was mistaken by the cracks. No need for thirdgrade name calling [IMG]

I guess my buddy has been talking to the owner and he wasn't asking 25k. He was asking 16K. He's probably going to make an offer and buy that thing.

i remember when it was green and had a for sale sign on it at b.p. a few years ago. i wish i would of bought it if the price was right(wasn't listed on the for sale sign and by the end of the show i was too polluted to even remember to buy a t-shirt much less hunt the guy down to find out how much). it was cool then and even though we could pick it apart like anything else it's still got "the look" i like . the sprint car steering boxes have always freaked me out seein that the ones i come across are like 1 to 1 ratio or something. kinda makes parellel parking in the city a******. it wouldn't take much to satisfy all the nay sayers-. if the price is right it and you flipped a project or two for a tidy sum(profit) it would be pretty easy to whip it into shape if it needed anything. i personally don't think it needs much, i would have repaint and reupholster so people don't say "hey isn't that ----'s old car?" that's one thing i can't take.

Hey Germ, I don't know what your*****ing problem with Billetproof is. How about if you just shut the***** up and don't come to the show. Wouldn't that be easier than spending your time talking***** about it? If you don't like it don't show up. If you have a real issue that you can articulate in standard english and accompany it with a suggestion as to how to improve, do it. If you are just jealous or have to stay on the rebellious edge then that's a different deal. Better yet how about you call me directly and talk to me about your concerns instead of just blasting something that hundreds of people enjoy. I know, I know how can it be any good if so many people enjoy it. I guess I could take my Lear jet out, now that I'm so wealthy from the show, and we could talk about it in person. If I told you how little I made you'd call me a liar. Basically it works out to about $5 an hour for the past three months of 10 hours a day.
